Before I start this entry, I would like to say that this is an unedited journal from a few months ago. I don't know if I'll ever edit this. If the spelling and grammar errors are a big deal, please comment so that I may deal with them.
I think why people don't like reading the Bible is cuz
1. They don't understand it
2. It makes them feel guilty. The Bible is hard to understand. Imagine being new to playing an instrument. People promote taking up this instrument because it's the best. They point fingers at you for not being able to play the instrument.
When non-Christians are told to repent and convert to being Christian, for them it must be like their being told to play a super hard solo on guitar when they haven't even learned how to play scales or read music notes/tabs.People are pushed away from the Bible bc of stuff like this. It's understandable to not want to read a book that tells you the things ur doing wrong, especially when u want to live your way. People also don't understand that Christianity is not religion. It's more of a lifestyle. Being a Christian means that u have a personal relationship between u and God, and ur constantly trying to follow Jesus' example.
Also, some people just read it the wrong way. Imagine reading one of the Harry Potter book sequels before reading any of the previous ones and taking it as a non-fiction book. You're doing two things wrong. One, why are u reading the sequel? You obviously won't understand a thing. Two, of course, the magic spells and creatures wouldn't make sense if ur reading it like it's a historical/non-fiction book.
People aren't getting the Bible because they are not getting a proper explanation. Most people only hear stuff like:
- repent, the time is near
- God loves u
- repent or go to hell
- random shouting of why they're sinful (getting fingers pointed at them in negative ways)
This important topic isn't a one and done conversation. It's a continuous journey of learning and improving. Would you continue learning a difficult instrument if the only tips ur getting is stuff like "practice the Bbmajsus7 scale" when u don't know how to hold the instrument and nobody will tell u what in the world a scale is? I think not. This is why it's so important to have an actual conversation about Jesus with those who are willing to listen.
This was a short chapter, but I hope this got the message across. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this! I would appreciate it if you vote, but you don't have to.
If you have any thoughts, leave a comment.
God bless you and keep you safe. ❤️
