Everyone has an identity, or something they're identified by or with. Whether it's they're ethnicity or nationality, their pronouns or sexuality, their political beliefs or even their job, what they specialize in.
"Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few." [Matthew 9:37 NIV]
There are many people in the world looking for who they really are. There is a hunger for the freedom that's found in the identities that they have/look for. But true fulfillment and identity are found in Christ.
Everyone is offered the choice to have a relationship with God or live separate from Him. Accepting God's invitation means that we are new creations in Christ.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" [2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV]
What does God call us and identify us as? God created us in His image. He calls us His children. He calls us redeemed. To God, we are precious and honored! These verses state that. "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." [Genesis 1:27 NIV] "So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith," [Galatians 3:26 NIV] "You, Lord, took up my case; you redeemed my life." [Lamentations 3:58 NIV] "Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life." [Isaiah 43:4 NIV] "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." [2 Corinthians 3:17 NIV]
Comfort and freedom are found in our identities as a part of the family of God!
