Verse of the Day
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
[1 Peter 5:8-9 NIV]Trust in God's plan, not your own. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." [Proverbs 3:5-6]. Don't look to someone or something else for guidance, but look to the Lord. He will be your guide and your strength during times of confusion and weakness. "Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace...", "I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." [Hebrews 13:9], [Psalms 121:1-2.] He knows what is best for us. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." [Jeremiah 29:11-13.] God will never abandon us, for He loves us very much (Deuteronomy 31:6), (Psalm 118:6-7). He knows and sees things that you and I don't. We also should remember that God is always awake and working, even when we don't feel or see it. This reminds us that when we're going through hard times and we don't know whether or not we'll make it out, we can trust in God because He knows the outcome. We should keep a couple of things in mind:
God can and will use your situation for good; trials and tribulations are not for naught. They will toughen you up and have you ready for the life that God has planned for you. (Hebrews 12:7)
God knows how much you can take. "In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood." [Hebrews 12:4] "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
[1 Corinthians 10:13].God will comfort you in your time of need. This excerpt from Psalms chapter 116 has become one of my favorite verses. I do recommend that you read the whole chapter if you have the time.
"I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live. The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me; I was overcome by distress and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the Lord: "Lord, save me!" The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. The Lord protects the unwary; when I was brought low, he saved me." [Psalm 116:1-6]
