Emma and I watch August as a deadbolt on the front door slides open; August enters with a small tool in his hand, then closes and bolts the door
"No one is gettin' through that." August said
"Wow." I said "When are you installing the torture chamber?"
"You like it?" August asked as he admires his handiwork "I'll call it medieval-chic."
"I don't care what it looks like as long as it keeps Regina and her skeleton keys out." Mary Margaret said
"This is pretty handy for a writer; where'd you learn to do all this?" Emma asked
"Wood shop?" August asked "Eighth grade?"
"Oh!" Mary Margaret said "Speaking of school." "Have to get going."
"Uh." I said "Are you sure you're ready to go back?"
"After a stint behind bars?" Mary Margaret asked "How tough can a room full of fourth-graders be?" "Besides, isn't Emma the one we need to be worried about?"
"Me." Emma said "Why?"
"Well." August said "You did threaten to take Henry away from Regina."
"Oh that wasn't a threat.' Emma said "I'm hiring Mr. Gold to help build a case against her." August and Mary Margaret share a look "She tried to have you framed for murder!"
"But—you do know what happens if you win." Mary Maragret said
"Yeah." Emma said
"And you're ready?" Mary Margaret asked "To be his mom?"
"Yeah." Emma said causing Mary Margaret and I to smile. All of a sudden the walkie talkie goes off
"Code red." Henry said "Code red."
"Hey, Henry, what's goin' on?" I asked
"Meet me at Granny's" Henry said "It's an Operation Cobra emergency."
"We're on our way." I said. Emma and I leave the apartment and start making our way to Granny's when August runs up to us
"Emma, Annalise wait up!" August said
"You heard the kid, Operation Cobra calls." Emma said
"I didn't think you believed any of that." August said
"Well, we don't, but sometimes it's the only way to get through to Henry." Emma said
"You know, a custody battle against Regina isn't going to accomplish anything." August said and Emma chuckles in disbelief. "You need to look at the big picture, understand what you're up against: that's the only way you'll know how to beat Regina."
"Okay, new guy: how's that?" Emma asked
"Take the day off." August said "Come with me, and I'll show you." Emma and I stop walking so does August
