The past week I was finding ways to occupy myself while my parents had the house for five back-to-back events. So while they were busy getting money I was busy playing with hearts. Something that I at least know how to do right.
I moaned when I felt the handsome stranger fill me up then after he pulled out I turned over to lay on my back to look at him. He leaned closer to me, taking my face in his hands, and before he had the chance I pushed him away so I could get out of the bed.
"Leaving so soon?" he asked, laying on his stomach to look up at me.
"Yeah," I replied, slipping on my boxers.
I didn't want to take the chance of using the shower so I was hoping that by the time I got home, the house would be empty. After getting fully dressed, I left the bedroom without another look at the male as I made my way down the stairs so that I could leave. Once I was in my car I checked my phone for at least one message from my parents but as always there wasn't a single one. There was however one message from Erica.
Erica: What are you up to?
Me: My parents have the house. What do you think I'm doing?
Erica: Come over?
Me: Thanks for the offer but I'd rather go home.
Erica: Suit yourself
I shut off my phone after that and started up my car, pulling out of the driveway so I could finally return home.
The next day I woke up home alone. I let out a breath of relief once I was downstairs but then noticed a sticky note on the counter.
At an event, keep the house clean for tomorrow. -Mom
I grabbed the post it and crumbled it up then tossed it in the trash at the same time I turned on my phone to text Erica. Something that my mom could have done was text me considering both my parents are constantly looking at their devices.
Per usual, my house was packed in minutes only this time it seems there are more people. I was leaning against the wall by the staircase with Oscar standing on one side of me while he was obviously flirting with some girl from the university. Erica was making out with some guy who I'm pretty sure has a girlfriend somewhere in my house. But that wasn't my problem. I looked down realizing that I was still holding the same cup of liquor in my hand, untouched. I had zero strength to raise my arm to even get a little sip.
"Dude!" Oscar shouted into my ear and when I felt his arm bump mine I turned to look at him. "You gonna join your own party soon or what?"
"The party's over," I said in a low tone then pushed off the wall but was stopped when Oscar grabbed my wrist.
"What did you say?" he questioned me.
"I said!" I started, raising my voice so he could hear me better over the music. "The party's over! I want everyone out of my house!"
"Seriously?" Oscar asked.
"Erica!" I shouted, getting her attention. "Get everyone out of my house!"
She pushed the random guy off of her before rushing up the stairs to stop the music which caused everyone to let out a groan.
"Party's over!" Erica shouted. "Everyone get the hell out!"
I looked up at her while the crowd of people made their way to the front door so they could leave my house. I gave her a short smile before turning back around to lean against the wall. I don't know what came over me to want to shut the party down so quickly but the moment I realized I couldn't even take a sip of alcohol I knew that tonight wasn't the night.
Once the house was empty I was finally able to see the mess that I would usually leave Erica to clean up every time. She walked up to me with her arms crossed in front of her chest.
"You wanna head to bed?" she asked. "I can-"
"No," I said in a dry tone. "It's okay. I'll clean it up. Head on home."
"You sure?"
"Yeah, Erica."
"Goodnight Justin."
I barely raised my hand up to wave her goodbye and once the door closed I made my way to the kitchen. I set my cup down on the counter then grabbed a trash bag, beginning to clean up the mess. I tossed a couple of the empty cups in the trash bag along with some of the plates right after and as I made my way to a pile of half-empty cups of alcohol I heard the front door open again.
"Did you forget something, Erica?" I asked, without making eye contact.
"So this is what the house looks like when we're gone," I heard my mom say and that caused me to quickly turn around.
I saw both of my parents taking off their shoes as I watched my dad close the door behind him. We only locked eyes on each other for a second before his attention went to his phone as the two of them made their way to stand in the foyer of the house.
"What are you doing back?" I asked, wanting to know considering they never come back home on the same day.
"You're not the only one that lives here," my dad said.
"Feels like it," I said under my breath.
"I told you not to make a mess of the house," my mom reminded me. "Did you not see the note?"
I thought about lying but felt no need to. "I saw it," I replied with a shrug.
"It would be nice if you could take after Maricio," my dad spoke up and that was all it took for me to let out a groan and roll my eyes.
"I get it okay!" I snapped and that got my dad to finally look at me again. "I'm a fuck up. I fuck up every day. I'm not the perfect image that you both want for the next generation of this family but I'm not going to change when it's clear you two won't even notice."
My dad's eyes fell to his phone again and under his breath, I heard him say, "It would be better if you could do it for yourself."
I dropped the trash bag and then grabbed the car keys off the counter not wasting any time to stick around. "Fuck this," I said making my way past both my parents. I wasn't expecting them to stop me because if I did I know that it would hurt me even more. I swung the front door open and then slammed it shut right behind me.
