~Adrian~

I was sitting on my bed, lost staring at my Instagram messages on my phone. I didn't have a lot of direct messages but the ones that I saw weren't worth replying to. Except for one. Opening the messages I found myself looking at the minimum conversation that we had back and forth to each other.

Park.Justin

Me: Sent you a photo. (3 months ago)

Me: This you?

Park.Justin: Yeah and your point is

Me: Nothing I just expected more

Me: For someone who's a Park, you don't have that many followers

Me: But who am I to judge?

Me: You must be doing something right...

Me: I'll take your silence as a yes

Park.Justin: I thought you were too focused on yourself.

Me: Why would you think that?

Park.Justin: That's what Erica told me...

Me: Well, I am

Me: Answer me, please

Park.Justin: If I say yes will you leave me alone

Me: Too famous for me or something?

Park.Justin: Don't forget your parents look up to mine

Me: Is that a threat?

Park.Justin: No but take it how you want

Me: How do you sleep at night knowing people only know you because of your last name?

Park.Justin: I'd show you better than I can tell you...

Park.Justin: You awake? (2 months ago)

Park.Justin: It's not a dream, I'm really texting you right now

Park.Justin: Too famous to talk to me now?

Looking back at those messages made me start to wonder when things changed. Why was the Justin over the phone so different from the Justin I met at the party? Something I knew the answer to but wished that it was for a different reason. I turned off my phone then placed it on my nightstand. The event that my parents were hosting was still going on downstairs, so I knew I wasn't going to get any sleep anytime soon. I heard a knock on my door but before I could give them a response my door was being pushed open.

"Mom wants you to interact with the guest," Erica said, leaning against the doorframe.

"No thank you," I said softly.

"I wasn't asking you and neither was she," she said.

"Well-"

"Justin left if that's who you're so worried about."

"He's not," I said but that was a lie. I couldn't see him again, not even for another second.

She let out a faint chuckle then stepped into my bedroom, not bothering to close the door. "You know you're a real piece of work." She sat down at the edge of my bed, facing me.

"What are you talking about?" I asked, raising my eyebrow.

"I don't know if you felt like mom and dad weren't giving you the attention you craved for, so I hope you're happy with what you told them," she stated and I felt my blood starting to boil once my eyes started to burn from the tears I was holding back.

"I didn't tell them that for attention, Erica," I said. "They asked me what was wrong and I told them."

"But why can't you just hide your emotions," she snapped. "I mean seriously if you think you're going to run the family business with me then you better think again." She stood up from my bed, making her way to the door. "You should be lucky you're their kid. Otherwise, they wouldn't give a single fuck about what Justin did to you."

"And what about you?" I questioned, now being able to stand up from my bed. "You're my sister, Erica and-"

"That doesn't mean anything," she snapped, cutting me off. "I don't care if I'm related to you. Justin is my friend and if I had to choose between him and you." She scoffed then shrugged her shoulders. "Honestly you wouldn't even be my top three choices."

"Erica!" I heard our mom call out from downstairs.

"Coming!" Erica called back. She looked at me one last time adding, "it's been two months, Adrian. You need to move on."

Then with that, she left, closing the door behind her, which put me back in my dark and empty room once again. What did I ever do to her? Why did she hate me so much? All I wanted was my sister back but knowing I can't get that back wasn't my fault. It was Justin's and she was going to stand beside him until the day they end up overdosing together.

I wasn't sure when I fell asleep or how but when I woke up the next morning, I made my way downstairs. I rubbed my eyes, trying to get rid of the tiredness but I heard my mom's voice along with Erica's voice in the kitchen.

"I already said no, Erica," my mom said and I could tell she was irritated with my sister.

Once I got in the kitchen both of their eyes were on me, but my mom looked away to put her laptop in her purse. "Good morning, Adrian," my mom said with a warm smile.

"Good morning," I said. "Where are you going?"

"Your dad and I have a meeting," she replied. "So, we trust that you two will watch the house."

"Where else are we going to go?" Erica questioned but her attention was on her phone.

"Ready?" my dad's voice called out and I didn't notice that he was standing by the front door.

"Yeah," my mom said. She made her way around the island so she could meet her husband at the door. "We'll be back later today."

"You mean tomorrow morning?" Erica questioned but neither of our parents responded to her.

My dad pulled open the front door, letting his wife leave first then he followed right after. Once the door closed, I turned to look at Erica, watching her thumbs move across the screen of her phone. Just like me, Erica didn't have a lot of friends. Justin was her only friend as far as I know so he was the most logical person for her to be texting.

"What Adrian?"

"I didn't say anything."

She turned off her phone then made eye contact with me. "Then why are you staring at me?"

"Who were you texting?" I asked even though I already knew the answer.

"Justin," she replied. "He's coming over."

"Today?" I exclaimed, failing at hiding my reaction.

"Yup," she said. "So, you have twenty minutes to hide in your room if you want."

I shook my head. "This is my house," I stated. "I'm not going to hide from him."

She scoffed. "You say that now," she said under breath. "Then when he gets here, can you let him in?"

"Why can't you do that?" I asked but nearly had to raise my voice so she could hear me from the stairs.

"I'm going to shower," Erica called out. "All you have to do is let him in."

Simple enough but I was starting to think I should've stayed hidden away in my bedroom. I pulled out my phone to check the time, realizing that it wasn't going to be long until he got here. Justin didn't live that far from us, something I remembered since the first party that Erica dragged me to. It's been two months, so seeing Justin now shouldn't have that much of an effect on me. I wasn't going to let him traumatize me in my own house.

So, until then I was waiting for a knock on the door.
