I found myself sitting on Erica's bed after my outburst with my parents once I got to her house. The Dellmon's were out having dinner together so it was just her in the house. Oh, and Adrian.
"I don't even know why I try," I said with a shrug then took a hit of the cigarette.
I had finished telling her about what happened once she left and was glad that she didn't say anything while I spoke. Although it would've been nice to hear something from her, I figured it was best that she didn't try. Erica has the family that I want. Even though they're never home I know that when they are in the house they actually care about their kids.
"You plan on going back tomorrow?" Erica asked and I shook my head.
"They have an event tomorrow anyway," I informed her.
"Oh that's right," she said softly, remembering that her parents would be there as well. "You know you can stay as long as you want."
"Thanks Erica," I said and dropped my eyes to her bed.
The silence started to build up between us but when Erica got up after telling me that she was going to hop in the shower I took the opportunity to lay down on her bed. There was no one else that I could talk to just to get my mind off of the events that happened. But after going to my messages on Instagram I soon realized that there was someone.
Adrian.
I opened our messages reading the last message that I sent to him which he still did not respond to.
Me: I could show you better than I can tell you...
I was never the type to reach out to anyone just to have a conversation with them except for Erica. This was something new for me and oddly enough I was glad that it was Adrian.
Me: You awake?
After sending the message I didn't have to wait long before he read it. I was staring at my phone thinking that he was going to message me back only after two minutes went by there was nothing. So I sent another one.
Me: It's not a dream, I'm really texting you right now
I sent that message right after and this time it took a while before he read the second message and once again he didn't respond.
Me: Too famous to talk to me now?
I chuckled after sending that text message recalling that he sent the same text to me when we first started talking. He read the message but I was expecting this time that he would at least say something. But he didn't. Was I really about to chase after someone?
I stood up from Erica's bed, making my way to the door so that I could leave her room. There were a lot of rooms upstairs and thankfully I didn't have to walk too far when I knocked on the door, hearing Adrian's voice call out, "Come in," from the other side.
I slowly pushed the door open but stood in the doorway waiting for him to look away from his phone. But when he didn't, that's when I decided to speak up.
"So you were reading my messages."
He quickly sat up and when his eyes met mine he looked like he just saw a ghost. I chuckled at his reaction as I made my way more into his bedroom after closing the door behind me.
"What... what are you doing here?" he asked, letting his nerves get the best of him.
I shrugged my shoulders and then sat at the foot of his bed. "Do you not want me here?" I asked with a raised eyebrow but was shocked when he shook his head. "Ouch."
"I mean... not like that," he said and I could tell that he was flustered which I soon realized was a really cute look on him.
Weird.
"So you do want me here?" I questioned with a smirk.
"Why are you here? Because if you're here for Erica then I can redirect you to her room."
"I already had my one on one with her," I said, leaning over on his bed.
"So-"
"How come you don't go out?" I decided to ask to change the subject so that we didn't have to talk about the situation with my parents.
"I- I don't want to," he replied and I watched him fiddle with his bed sheet.
"Why?" I asked, turning to fully face him.
"It's not for me."
"You would have a lot of fun," I said, leaning closer to him but still there was a lot of space between us.
"Do you not remember?" he asked suddenly and my expression dropped.
"Remember what?" I asked.
"That night. That party at your house."
"You're going to have to be more specific," I said, trying my best to hide the annoyance.
"I was at your house that night. You threw a party and Erica dragged me there." He paused, noticing that I was still lost. "You really don't remember?"
His voice cracked when he asked me again and something inside made me feel bad for not knowing what he was talking about. He shook his head and then dropped his eyes to the bed to hide the fact that he was crying. Why was he crying though?
"Adrian I-"
"I would tell you to just forget about it but," he said softly and then paused to look up at me again. "You already did."
