"Since when," I groaned, standing up from the couch. "Did you have a brother?"
"Since birth," Erica replied. "Which you wouldn't know because you never asked. And we only just became friends five months ago so... you know, there's that."
"Why are you wearing shades inside?" Adrian asked and I turned my attention to him.
"Because the bright lights give me a headache," I replied.
"You should probably get that checked out," he said and Erica let out a chuckle. "Where's mom and dad?" he asked, changing the subject before I could say anything back to him.
"Business party," Erica replied.
Adrian nodded and then made his way upstairs without another word. I looked at Erica and watched her begin to laugh.
"It's not that funny," I said, rolling my eyes.
"It's just interesting that we tried to get him to talk since he got back and when he sees you all of a sudden, my brother's got jokes," Erica said.
"Well I'm glad I could break him out of his shell," I said, then made my way back to the couch.
"Yeah whatever," Erica said, walking away from me so she could go back to her room.
Then I was alone again, back to zoning out the world as I thought about the next party. I needed to drink, smoke, and pop a pill or two, just so the time could speed up. But of course, I couldn't do any of that in Erica's house. My phone vibrating caused me to check the notification just to see who was disturbing my peace. It was a message from Instagram but it was from an account I don't recognize.
Annoymous_Adrian: Sent you a photo.
Then another one came in.
Annoymous_Adrian: This you?
Now I unlocked my phone just to see who this was and what they were talking about. First I saw it was a screenshot of my account then when I went to view his profile it all hit me. I chuckled when I found out this was Erica's brother as I went back to his message.
Me: Yeah and your point is
The message was sent and it didn't take long before it was read and he was typing. I didn't bother to stare at my phone waiting to see his response which was why I turned it off and looked at the TV. Then my phone received a message but I was in no hurry to check the message. I knew that it was Adrian but he's no one important to get all my attention. Another message came through followed by a third and a fourth.
"For fucksakes," I groaned, unlocking my phone. "This is why I don't give out my contact information."
I read the messages one by one.
Annoymous_Adrian: Nothing I just expected more
Annoymous_Adrian: For someone who's a Park, you don't have that many followers
Annoymous_Adrian: But who am I to judge?
Annoymous_Adrian: You must be doing something right...
"Dickhead," I muttered under my breath then turned off my phone, but then there was another message and I glanced over it.
Annoymous_Adrian: I'll take your silence as a yes
Finally, I unlocked my phone to respond to him.
Me: I thought you were too focused on yourself.
Annoymous_Adrian: Why would you think that?
Me: That's what Erica told me...
Annoymous_Adrian: Well I am
Annoymous_Adrian: Answer me, please
I had to scroll back up to our previous message to see what was said.
Annoymous_Adrian: I'll take your silence as a yes (Sent 3 minutes ago)
Now I went back to our recent messages and began typing, hoping that I could bring this conversation to an end soon.
Me: If I say yes will you leave me alone
Annoymous_Adrian: Too famous for me or something?
Me: Don't forget your parents look up to mine
Annoymous_Adrian: Is that a threat?
Me: No but take it how you want
Annoymous_Adrian: How do you sleep at night knowing people only know you because of your last name?
Me: I'd show you better than I can tell you...
Adrian didn't say anything after that and finally, I was able to go back to my peace, slowly drifting off to sleep. The sound of yelling from the reality show was enough noise for me to grow weary and get a nap in before I had to go back home.
