Katsumi's worst nightmare came true the next time her sedation wore off. The nurse who'd been watching her had managed to fall asleep in the chair across the room.
Katumi's body--instead of flailing around--was oddly calm as she woke. She was still in the backseat of her consciousness, still having no control over what was happening. For the first time during her stay at the hospital, her quirk decided to activate. This is what she'd been fearing. She'd honestly wondered why it hadn't happened yet.
Tendrils of shadow slipped from her palms and quietly undid the bindings on her wrists and ankles. Like something out of a horror movie, her body slowly sat up and surveyed her surroundings. Then in a blink of an eye, she shot out of the bed and a set of shadow winds shot out of her back and carried her straight through the window at her bedside. The glass shattered upon impact, and she scraped herself across the broken glass, cutting up her still-healing body.
The nurse was awake now, and shouting something at her, but she paid the woman no mind. Like some kind of sick puppet, her shadows wrapped themselves around her body and dragged her along. She could only imagine where she was going.
The night air was cold on her skin as she flew through the air toward her target. She was panicking, but there was nothing that she could do to stop what was happening. The only thing she could hope was that Todoroki was able to fend her off and subdue her.
Or... Kill her if he had to.
The thought terrified her--she wasn't ready to die yet. But there was no way she was going to kill him. She wished she could tell him that it was okay so that he wouldn't be afraid or worried. The last thing she ever wanted to do was cause problems for other people, but this was completely unavoidable on her part at the moment.
Unsurprisingly, heroes came to try and stop Katsumi. But she was too fast and too violent. She worried they wouldn't be enough.
Something wrapped around her midsection and pulled her to the side, crashing her into the side of a building. The glass shattered with a loud crash, and her shoulder was dragged across the sharp edges. She knew she was bleeding, but she didn't feel a thing. Just for a moment, her quirk deactivated, and she began to fall, but someone was there to catch her.
A strong pair of arms cradled her weakened body. It was Tsukuyomi.
He landed on the street below, still holding her body close. Katsumi hoped and prayed that she would remain unmoving, but her prayers went unanswered, as always. She convulsed and flipped herself out of Tsukuyomi's arms, but he was quick to wrap her in Dark Shadow to try and hold her there.
"Fallen Angel, you need to stop struggling!" he called after her. When her quirk activated again, Dark Shadow was of little help. This time, her body glowed in blinding light, sending Dark Shadow packing with his tail between his legs. "Katsumi, come back!" he called after her as she rose up and started to run away. Her chest was tired and burning, but it didn't matter. She couldn't stop.
Suddenly, Katsumi was surrounded by a smoke screen. She knew who was coming for her next. Her body was quick to react, and tendrils of shadow shot from her palms and fanned the surrounding area, leaving a halo of visibility around her.
"Katsumi, you have to stand down!" a voice shouted from above. She didn't even look. She just kept walking forward, fanning away the smokescreen as she went.
Deku floated in the air above her, debating his next move. Moving in closer, he shot black whip from his arm, grabbing onto Katsumi's body. She struggled in its entanglement, but she was almost too strong to be held. It almost seemed as if her quirk and her strength had somehow been amplified. She'd never been stronger than Deku before, but he was struggling to hold her now. Still, he tightened his hold until she fell down to keep struggling against him.
