Shoto got up and headed down the hall toward the bathroom, looking for a towel to clean his and Katsumi's bodies off after what they'd just done.

He was still catching his breath, and he tried to be quick as he grabbed a towel and wetted half of it before heading back to the bedroom, not wanting to leave Katsumi alone for long. When he returned, she was still lying in bed, her eyelids closed and her breathing finally steady. His eyes took in the scene before him, running up and down her body, seeing that it was fully displayed for him. He waited a moment at the foot of the bed, raking over the skin he now knew to be so soft and irresistible. Katsumi lifted her head and opened her eyes slightly, looking at Shoto as he stood there, not saying anything. She looked way more relaxed than he'd ever seen her. Her body was loose and laid out for him to see, and her face held none of the tight expressions she usually made and instead had one of peace and happiness. He could see the slight smile forming at the edges of her lips, and he smiled himself at the sight.

He crawled up the bed toward Katsumi and softly wiped her down. As he did, he eyes the marks he'd left on her hips--deep bruises from how hard he'd held onto her hips as he fucked her.

Part of him had been worried he'd been doing too much. He knew what Katsumi had gone through with Mind Maker, and he hoped that he hadn't taken things too far, even though he trusted her to tell him if he did. But when his eyes met hers again, he could see nothing but post-coital bliss on her face in the way her eyes hung lazily open as they looked at him and the way her mouth sat in a half-grin. Her hands came up to stroke his chest as he looked her over one final time before throwing the towel to the floor beside the bed. Then, he laid down next to her, pulled her into his arms, facing him, and placed small kisses over her cheeks and nose.

"Can I ask you something?" she said, breaking the small silence between them. Her hands groped at his chest and neck as she spoke, and even though he had just came quite hard in her, he could feel his cock twitching from her simple touches.

"You can ask me anything," he breathed before placing another kiss on her nose.

"Why did you come here?" she asked. "You looked—well, you didn't look okay when you showed up. I was worried something was wrong." Her eyes searched his for answers as he decided how to address the subject properly.

"Uraraka texted me," he explained. "She said you hadn't been replying to your texts or calls, and no one knew if you'd gotten home safely last night. I was worried that something might have happened to you."

As he thought about his state before arriving, a slight pang of worry shot through him again, even though he was here with her in his arms. He knew she was alright, but even the thought of her getting hurt or taken again sent his mind reeling. His hands dug into her hips and he clenched his eyes shut, trying to wipe the thoughts from his mind.

"I'm okay," she assured him. "I just slept in a little and forgot to charge my phone." When he opened his eyes again, she looked at him with an intensity he hadn't seen in her before. Her eyebrows pinched together as she looked over his face.

"I know that now," he stated. "But I can't help but worry. Next time, I want you to call me when you get home. Or better yet, I'll take you home myself next time, so I know."

"Got it," she whispered before burying her face into Shoto's chest. "But you know I can take care of myself, right? What happened with Mind Maker..." she trailed off for a moment before speaking again. "That was a fluke. Nothing like that has ever happened to me, and I won't let it happen again. I let my guard down, and I paid the price."

Her last words were spoken with conviction, as if she thought what had happened to her was her fault. But he knew better—it was his fault for letting her come here by herself in the first place. He knew better than to do things like that. With years on the job, he should have known better.

"Hey," she spoke softly, putting her hand against his cheek. "I can see you overthinking. You need to stop. It happened, and there's nothing I can do about that. It's in the past now, okay?"

He regarded her with a wary look, checking her face for unease, but didn't find any. "Okay."

At long last, the thing she'd been looking for was finally sitting in the palms of her hands. She fingered through the file that had just been faxed to her from Shoto's agency, and her veins seemed to be lit with fire as she eyed the file.

It was a solid lead on Mind Maker.

If what they had last time had been considered solid, this was like 'Kirishima' levels solid. It was good. It was bound to give her what she was after.

She instantly opened her email to respond to the chain of messages regarding the file she'd just been sent. Shoto's replies were almost instant, and in no time at all, they had a solid plan. They were going to take down the fucker who had messed her up and caused her almost to hurt one of the people she cared about most.

Leaning back in her chair, she let out a sigh. She could almost feel tears coming to her eyes as she thought about it. Getting him off the streets and behind bars where he belonged was the peace she'd sought for weeks. While she was doing better, and having Shoto at her side now definitely helped, nothing would feel better than seeing Mind Maker put away for good.

She was a hero—that was something she often had to remember when she thought of Mind Maker and the things she wanted to do to him. She imagined how easy it would be to use her shadow quirk to rip him apart limb by limb or how simple it would be to light her fingertips up and burn into his skin over and over again—slowly, with long and searing presses. It would be so easy to just let go and give the man what he deserved.

But no.

Kastumi had made promises when she'd accepted her Hero License. She had to do right by her morals, the commission, and by the people. There were things far more important than getting her revenge. She would simply have to settle for seeing him locked up in a prison cell for the rest of his life.
