Katsumi wrung her hands together under the table and waited for the detectives to speak.
"So first, we'd like to know the details on how Mind Maker's quirk works," said Detective Sato. "Any information regarding his quirk would be greatly appreciated."
"Of course," Katsumi said. "Well, it works off of blood ingestion." She paused for a moment, remembering the feeling of Mind Maker's teeth sinking into her flesh. Brushing away the thought, she continued. "After ingesting your blood, he gives you an order, and you're forced to carry out that order to completion. No matter the cost."
"I see," said Detective Sato, scribbling something down on the notepad he held. "And there are no ways to break free? No back doors you were able to find?"
"None," she told them. "Once he gave the order, it's like I couldn't think about or do anything else. It felt like I was on autopilot, and I couldn't control my body at all. I was shoved to the back of my own head, and there wasn't anything I could do about it." She tried her best to keep her voice from coming out shaky, but the more she remembered and thought about it, the less hold on her composure she seemed to have.
Under the table, Shoto rested a hand on her knee, giving it a light squeeze. She focused on the sensation and used it to center herself. Katsumi glanced over to the hero on her left, who gave her a small and knowing nod.
"And how many times did he take control?" Detective Ito asked.
"Lots. Too many to count."
"What kinds of things did he make you do?" Ito pressed. Katsumi stilled as she thought about her time in that dingy room.
"Um..." she didn't know how to eloquently word it. She didn't want to sound weak. "He forced me to commit sexual acts with him."
Shoto tensed up beside her, his grip on her knee tightening. She kept her eyes focused on the table, unable to meet the detective's eye.
"To make you participate willingly, I assume?" Ito pressed further.
"Well--yeah. That's what happened."
"And his last order--what was it?"
"I was ordered to kill Todoroki. I'm fairly certain the only reason they didn't take me somewhere else was because they wanted it to be a trap. They wanted me to be rescued." Katsumi chewed the inside of her lip.
The detectives continued to ask her questions, and Katsumi answered them almost robotically at that point, not wanting to focus too hard or think back to the events that took place in the warehouse. While they continued to question her, Shoto's hand never left her thigh, and he absentmindedly ran his thumb against her leg, she focused on the light touch, using it to keep herself in the moment and to keep her mind from running.
Despite her protests last night, it really did help to have him there. He was able to keep her relaxed just by being there with her, and she knew she'd need to thank him for it later.
A short while later, Katsumi was finally released, and Detective Ito walked them back out to the lobby. Shoto kept his hand on her arm as they walked, keeping her steady as they made their way back out to his car. Once they were both seated inside, Shoto sighed and stared out the window, not making any moves to start the car.
"You didn't tell me about any of that," he finally said. "What he did to you. You didn't tell me."
"I didn't want to," she replied quietly. "It's embarrassing."
"It's not embarrassing," he reassured her., though his tone was more angry than soft. "He's a sick bastard for doing that, and I'm angry I let that happen to you."
