Fintan
Fintan, alongside Gethen, strode along the hallways of the Neverseen base, his long legs eating up the space. The plan with the Moonlark had gone perfectly. If Gisela and himself were correct in their plans, the Moonlark would bring down the Black Swan, and clear the way for the Neverseen- their own little weapon.
Fintan turned a corner- and stopped short in shock.
Very few things shocked Fintan Pyren. He had been alive for thousands of years, seen horrors, been on the Council, which was a pit of wolves in itself, been betrayed, had his mind shattered, committed terrible crimes, and had seen and brought into action too many deaths too count.
Eventually, over the years, he had gradually lost touch with his emotions- he'd had to, or he would've been driven mad from guilt many years before.
This was why, a sight which should have brought tears to his eyes, only surprised him a little.
Sophie Foster was lying on the floor, clutching her head in agony. She held a bloodstained dagger in her hand, and beside her, dead, lay his family.
No one ever expects a villain to have family. Fintan thought musingly as he bent down to examine the bodies, and the stab wounds. They were fairly well aimed, and all pierced vital organs. With a little training, he would be able to brush Sophie Foster- or, should he say, Revenge- quite well into shape. She could become a very powerful warrior.
Fintan dismissively kicked his dead brothers' body out of the way, as he strode to Sophie.
"Gethen." He called, who had stood back to give Fintan some space. "Check her mind, won't you?"
Gethen walked forwards, and put his fingers on Sophie's temple. Almost immediately, he stumbled back, shaking his head.
"What is it?" Fintan asked sharply.
Gethen turned to him, dread in his eyes. "It appears the Moonlark's mind is shattering. It seems that as she teleported here, she somewhat regained her memories. She somehow conjured your family- do not ask me how she knew who they were, we both know she is incredibly powerful- and killed them, as some kind of vengeance. Evidently, that did not help with her guilt. Who knew Conjurors could conjure people?"
Fintan swore. "Fuck! No!" He continued with a long string of unrepeatable words.
Fire sparked at his fingers.
Shit. He would have to go kill something to calm himself down now.
He strode away, leaving Gethen in the dust.
Linh
Linh watched from her position beside her twin as everyone argued.
They had all gathered in Havenfield after Mr Forkle's pronouncement- meaning Grady, Edaline, the Vackers, the Collective, Tam and herself, Dex, Tiergan, Quintin and Keefe. And the bodyguards. It was quite a crowd.
"What are we even going to do to save Foster?" Keefe yelled.
"You can't just make an announcement like that and leave us hanging!" Biana shouted.
Sandor countered in his squeaky voice, "She is my charge! I should be the one rescuing her, not elves with their mind tricks!" The other goblins nodded their agreement.
Linh shook her head. They weren't going to get anywhere like this. She felt for the moisture in the air, gathering the water in a giant, hovering ball above her head, everyone except Tam so enraptured in their argument that they didn't even notice, which was saying something. She released her hold on the water, soaking everyone except Tam and herself.
"Enough!" Linh yelled. "We aren't getting anywhere like this! You should be ashamed of yourselves, arguing like a group of children while Sophie is missing and alone as her mind is shattering! Pull yourselves together!"
A distressed sound came suddenly from Keefe, breaking the silence as all eyes turned to him. "What?" He protested. "You ruined the Hair!"
A/N Sorry for the super short chapter, but I didn't have a lot of time to spare! I know I keep saying this, but I'll try to give you longer chapters! I swear I mean it every time! This chapter was kind of a filler chapter, but I think it's necessary for a bit of character development, especially for Fintan. Do you think I should kill him, or keep him alive? I'm not sure yet!
Anyways, thankyou sooo much for reading! I am legit so happy I have so many reads! Can we try and hit the 350 mark?
Thanks again for reading my story!!!!!!!
