Danny

The moment I got home, I saw Tina standing in the living room clearly pissed. "Why were you at her house?"

"Who?"

"Oh, please. I have your location, remember? Why were you at your ex-wife's house?"

"We have children, and I abandoned them."

"Hence why I don't like you going to her house."

"They are my kids. Well, Maverick is technically mine but still. I abandoned them and it was wrong."

Tina laughed. "What about Hunter? He needs a father."

"I have two things to say to you, okay?"

"Sure."

"One, you are a spoiled bitch, Tina. When you don't get your way, you either yell at me or turn into a bitch and two, Hunter is not even mine."

"That is so not true, Danny. I don't know what you are talking about."

"Valentina was nothing like you."

Tina smirked. "She must have not meant that much, especially since you left her for me."

"I'm not doing that to her again. I can't."

She nodded and went upstairs. "Take your shit with you, Danny. I don't want you here. You were a selfish prick anyways."

"You can keep my shit here to remind yourself what you did."

"What I did? You're the one who cheated in the first place. So do me a favor... Your shit better be gone by the end of the week."

Once Tina fell asleep, I called Valentina, and she answered on the fourth ring. "Can I help you?"

"I'm leaving her."

"You think that it is that easy?"

"For me, it is."

"I never said I would give you a chance, Danny."

"You said you would talk to me again."

"Well, I don't know what I want. I really have no reason to forgive you."

"Meet me for breakfast at my house tomorrow and we can discuss things."

"No."

"Val, please. It's just breakfast."

I could sense the hesitation in her voice before finally responding. "Fine."

"See you in the morning."

"Yep."

She hung up and although her tone seemed strained and irritated, I couldn't help but smile. This is my chance to get Valentina and my children back.

Valentina

"You're giving Danny another chance? Are you crazy?"

"Not exactly, no. I just am allowing to give him an opportunity to explain himself."

"You're going to get hurt again, Val. Don't do it."

"I'm sure you're right, but my kids need their father."

"I know they do, but he does not deserve to see them."

"I don't know."

"Think about what is best for you and your kids. Danny is an asshole."

"He is, I just... I don't know."

"What good is going to come out of this for you?"

"I should at least give him a chance to speak for himself."

Micah shook her head. "If you get hurt, don't complain to me about it."

"I didn't say I would get back with him, I just feel he needs to be around his children."

"Whatever you say, Valentina."

*** The next day: It was around noon when I called Danny. I knew it was a bad idea and rather stupid on my behalf to even allow him back into my life, but he had a right to explain himself. If I would ever get back with him is very unlikely, but all I can hope for is that he's changed for not only himself but for the kids.
