"Please," Matilda pleads with me, and I eagerly nod in agreement. "Of course, you're my best friend, I'm honored to plan this," I exclaim with excitement.

Tilly exhales in relief. "Thank goodness," she says, pausing to take a deep breath.

"Also, I need you to accompany me to the doctor's appointment tomorrow. Jamie and I want to keep the gender a surprise, so you're our chosen companion," she informs me, to which I respond with a grin.

"I'll be there," I assure her confidently. She offers a weak smile, rubbing her stomach. "This one really tires me out. I'm heading to bed," she says before leaving my room.

I nod in acknowledgment. "Alright, see you tomorrow." She smiles at me before exiting.

I reach for my phone and plug it into the charger. Deciding not to set an alarm for the next day, knowing I have plans with Tilly.

As the low hum of the air conditioning fills the room, a comforting reminder of the beauty found in American homes. I can't help but appreciate Matilda having it installed throughout her house, despite it not being common in her area.

With a practiced motion, I silence the persistent buzz of my alarm, simultaneously summoning a much-needed caffeine fix with a few taps on my phone.

Within moments, the aromatic promise of freshly brewed coffee wafts through the air, heralding the arrival of our morning pick-me-up.

With a quick glance at the clock, I slip into the carefully chosen attire for the day, each piece perfectly selected to match both my style and practicality for the day.

Just as I'm smoothing out the wrinkles of my shirt, a soft knock heralds Tilly's arrival, Elliott comfortably resting on her hip.

"Ready the day, Flo?" she calls out, her voice infused with a blend of excitement and some anxiety.

"Absolutely, what about you two," I ask with more enthusiasm, giving her a reassuring smile, hoping to calm her nerves.

"Yes ma'am," She says, saluting me, as I playfully roll my eyes.

We walk into the car, and I make sure to buckle Elliott up in his car seat, nice and tight. I slip into the passenger seat, and Tilly takes the wheel as we set off towards her doctor's office.

"There are some complications with the pregnancy, but, hopefully, it will be a regular birth, not a c-section."

As Tilly absorbs the news about her pregnancy, her fingers fidget, betraying the anxiety shimmering beneath her calm exterior.

With a determined nod, she masks her nerves, shifting her focus to a brighter subject. She looks at me, silently signaling me, telling me to ask for the gender of the baby.
