Kyle taps his pencil against the table, the math problem on his homework assignment giving him more issues than he would care to admit. His mind is preoccupied with thoughts about being alone with Y/n for a few hours, distracting him. Sure, they have hung out before, but never just the two of them. Stan or Kenny is always with them. Almost like their two best friends don't want them to be alone together.
Though, it's more so Kenny than Stan. Kenny is always following Y/n around and constantly putting his hands on her. And the blond wonders why he can't keep a relationship. Kyle rolls his eyes, thinking about how annoying Kenny must be.
"Hey," Y/n greets, sliding into the booth beside Kyle. She has a cup of iced/hot coffee/tea in her hand, and her backpack slung over one shoulder.
This knocks the boy out of his thoughts. He didn't even hear her come into the shop.
Kyle smiles, happy to see the h/c haired girl. "Oh! Hey, Y/n."
Y/n grins, setting her coffee/tea down on the table. She scoots closer to Kyle to see what he is working on, her hip and leg bumping against his. Being as close to Kenny as she is, sometimes she forgets what personal space is with other people. "What are you working on?"
"Uh, math." Kyle tenses up at the closeness of the pretty girl next to him. 'Can she feel how nervous she makes me? Can she feel my heart racing?'
"I finished that assignment already." Y/n nods her head, pointing her finger at the problem. "Take that number and multiply it by that. Then, divide the rest."
Kyle blinks, quickly doing what Y/n said to get the correct answer. He rubs his hand over his face. How embarrassing that she caught him zoning out. "Well, now I feel kind of stupid."
Y/n smiles, shaking her head. "No way! You're the smartest person I know. You will definitely be val- valic- valid..?" Her brows scrunch together in frustration.
Speaking is hard sometimes.
"Valedictorian?" Kyle questions, helping her out. He props his elbow on the table, resting his chin on his open palm. A small smile forms on his lips.
"Yeah, that! Don't tell Wendy, though. I'm suppose to be rooting for her." Y/n giggles, holding up her pointer finger to her lips.
Kyle chuckles, knowing Wendy is tied with him as the smartest student in their grade. "Your secret is safe with me."
"I knew I could trust you." Y/n grins, pulling out her folder with her English homework. She sighs softly. "I wish I could be as smart as both of you."
Kyle quickly disagrees, "You are smart."
"Maybe, but not with English. I don't get it at all." Y/n gives Kyle her best puppy dog eyes. "Help me, please?"
"Fine." Kyle laughs, glancing over at the homework assignment they were given today in class. "Let's see here..."
Kyle begins to explain the assignment and how to properly complete it. He speaks a bit slower while explaining, letting his words sink in. Y/n listens intently, finding the way he explains it easier to understand than the way their teacher explains it. Which doesn't really take much since all the teachers are shit at their jobs.
After about an hour of working on homework, Y/n finishes up her assignment and has a better understanding of the class. It's only a little, but still better than before. Amd she has Kyle to thank for that.
"Thank you so much, Kyle!" Y/n grins happily. "You'd make a great teacher."
Kyle rubs the back of his neck, smiling sheepishly. "Of course. Anything for you."
