Chapter 14

Wisty and I both walked to the front. door. Maybe Jimmy had already gone inside. Those were my thoughts anyways.

We tried the door but, oddly, it was locked. Just as I was about to reach for the doorbell, I heard a revolting sound from behind me. We turned around.

Jimmy was standing there. He had a lost look on his face like he had no clue where we were. Then, all of the sudden, he charged at us.

Me and Wisty ran for our lives. We ducked underneath Jimmy's outstreatched arms and ran for the car.

We locked the doors behind us and I cranked the engine.

That was just enough to send him away. He moved on down the street, a wandering soul forever lost in his own little world.

We stayed that way for a few minutes, just to be sure he wouldn't come back. We stepped out of the car and walked back up to the door.

It was still locked.

I tried the doorbell but it was rusted out and didn't make a sound. Wisty knocked on the door to be sure there was no one there.

Just when we were about to turn around and leave, someone came to the door.

"Hi, can I help you?" a young woman said.
