Chapter 3

************************************

I began to explore the shop a little. It wasn't very big and had almost no room to walk around because of all the junk.

Wisty walked the opposite way and after a while she called me over. "What's up?" I asked. "I found something cool." She pointed up to one of the high shelves.

"A wand!" I said. "Mabey the shopkeeper is a wizard!!"

"That would be helpful"

"I know right!! Finally someone who knows what it's like to be chased for a long time.

Let's hope he is a wizard of great age and power so he knows what he's doing and he isn't a random teenager. That is, if it is a he. It could be a she." I said.

"That'd be awesome" Wisty said.

"Let's not get our hopes up to high though. Last time we thought we saw a wizard he turned out to be an advertiser for a magic shop."

"That's true. " she replied "But doesn't everyone say the wand chooses the wizard? I'm positive that it's a real wand."

"Let's go find the owner or an employee to make sure." I said

"Ok" Wisty agreed

We began to walk around the store until we came to the front counter. The counter was deserted but a bell was sitting on the top. There was a sign underneath it that said 'please ring for assistance'. So I did.

The bell could be heard a mile away so I was sure if anyone was here, they could hear it. I waited about 2 minutes before a kindly looking old man stepped out of a room behind the counter covered by a curtain.

"May I help you?" he asked. I really wanted to trust the guy but my natural insticts from the streets kicked in. I had to check out if he was legit.

"Hi there. Umm just to be sure your for real,What do people say about wand and wizards" I quizzed. I knew that any real wizard would know the answer easily.

"That the wand always chooses the wizard." he replied.

" I think he's legit" I whispered to Wisty. Now the question was if he knew any information that would help us with the Alpha project.

Asking him about the project directly wasn't going to work. I had to use wizard code.

The code wasn't too complicated. I asked the man if he had a notepad and pen I could borrow. He said that he did and he ducked behind the desk. When he reappeared he was holding a big, yellow, notepad,a quill and an ink bottle.

I quickly took the quill, dipped it in some ink and began scratching out the wizard's code.

When I finished I handed it to the man.

He read it through and then said,"Well ladies, we have some work to do."
