"Morning sunshine." Tony said as you opened your eyes. You were back in your bed, in vast amounts of pain. You could barely open your left eye, but you could see Tony, Steve, Natasha, Loki and Thor, all ragged looking.

Loki sat on the edge of the bed, smiling weakly. He had a long scratch along the edge of his chin, and his usually tame hair was a mess. The only ones missing were your brother and best friend. Of course they would be there. They were your family- so where were they? You opened your mouth to ask where they were and were met with a raspy sound.

Steve knew what you were going to say and looked at the floor. No.Tears welled in the corners of your eyes. Babe. Bro. No..

You let out a choked sob, holding a hand to your mouth to stop them from escaping your lips. Tears streamed down your face, but you shook violently with each sob. Loki moved from the edge of the bed, cradling you in his arms as you shook. He couldn't console you. Your home was destroyed. There was nothing left. Your best friend was dead. Your brother was dead. You were the only one left.

You couldn't stop thinking that it was all your fault. You held onto Loki as you cried. Everyone else left, not wanting to say anything that may upset you. The salty tears stung your injuries, but you didn't care.

Only one left. The entire town- gone, all except for you.

-Three weeks later--

The memorial for those lost in Lucifer's attack was two weeks ago. All in all, there were 500 or so victims, most from blood loss, being crushed, or burnt. Aid groups from across the world were helping to rebuild the lives of those not lost to the battle. Neither you nor Loki went, despite being the ones to take down the leaders in the fight. You didn't want to see a picture of your friend or your brother, or to make a speech. You were so empty. You had lost weight and the colour in your face. You'd lost everything, except for Loki.

He'd been supportive, helping you deal with the violent nightmares, and getting you to recuperate with your stab wound. The two of you were going to go back to the underground soon. To stay with Jareth and Fluer. Everything had been repaired, and was ready for you.

There was no celebration for the win against Lucifer. The loss was too big. You would have been there as a saviour. You didn't want that. You just wanted to sleep forever. You didn't want to feel so empty.

You now sat in the bath, a wheelchair beside it because you were still too weak to stand. Loki sat behind you, rubbing your aching back. You hadn't spoken much in three weeks. The biggest items of gossip in the city were that Loki was back and wasn't being evil, and that the avengers had a new member. But you didn't counter them. You didn't want to even bother. You leaved back against Loki, looking up at him.

He ran a hand over your recently shaved head. You had gotten rid of your hair because your best friend used to style it and you didn't want to deal with that. So it was just a buzz cut and you donated your hair to an overseas cancer wig company. Loki was okay with it though. He still made innuendos now and then to cheer you up. They did for a little while.

You had been taken to a psychologist many times, Loki always there. He was very helpful for when you didn't want to talk anymore.

"I want to go out." He said. "Just for a walk." You turned to look at him, an he gave you a hopeful yet kind smile.

"I-"

"You need some fresh air too. You're coming."

"But I can't walk yet." You mumbled.

"Then I'll push you. But come with me." He said, resting his forehead against yours. "Please." Annoyed, you sighed in acceptance. He grinned.

So, struggling and painfully, you got out of the bath and dressed. He helped you into the wheelchair. Everyone was glad to see you going out for the first time in three weeks. They all hated seeing you so weak.

Outside, it was dark, excluding the vast amount of lights. Loki walked you down to the park. This was the last place you wanted to be. It was so quiet, despite being New York. Loki walked you along the path. You weren't even taking in the scenery. You didn't want to be out here. You just wanted to stay in the bath and sink to the bottom and lie there forever.

Outside a small lake, he stopped. You looked over it, watching the moonlight across the water. You turned to him.

"We've had your walk. Can we go home now?" You asked him. He sighed, laughing quietly.

"No. I think we should sit out here for a while."

"But I-"

"Need to be outside for a while." He said sternly, looking out across the water. "You've been inside for three weeks, doing nothing at all. You need the fresh air, darling." You scowled, looking at the ground. He was right. All you've done lately is mope. So you sat in your wheelchair, looking at the ripples in the lake.

After a long, awkward silence that lasted too long, you spoke. "I'm sorry." Loki kneeled next to you.

"What?"

"I'm so sorry." You looked at him, tears lining your eyes.

"For what?"

"Lucifer was right. Because of my existence, all of this happened." You explained.

"What? No. No no no no no. No." He said, cupping your cheek with his hand. "None of this was your fault. This would have happened anyway. No matter who the hybrid was, the havoc wrecked could have been catastrophic. You could be dead. And, to be frank, I'm glad it was you."

You gave him a weak smile. "Even with all my faults and tantrums?"

"Especially with all your faults and tantrums." He repeated, earning a small tear- soaked laugh from you. As you stopped laughing, he leaned in and kissed you, which you happily returned.

As you two broke apart, he grinned. "I've been waiting for that for weeks."

"Of course you have, nerd."

He somehow managed to make that an innuendo, and the two of you burst into fits of laughter.

--

The movie later that night was fantastic. It was a children's movie, no doubt. But you loved it anyway.

"I still don't get why he called himself Megamind." Loki mumbled.

"Did you not see his head?"

"Yes."

"Think about it then, genius."

It took him a moment, before an exasperated "Oh." left his lips and he started laughing. You rolled your eyes

"How is the pain going?" He asked.

"You know, after laughing and that amazing kiss earlier, it's not so bad, actually." You answered, receiving a cheeky grin. You playfully pushed him and smiled, genuinely. Tony walked into the living room, glancing at the TV.

"You feeling better then, I guess?" He asked. You nodded.

"A little." You smiled at him.

"Sweet because I need someone to share some Moscato with."

"Moscato? Wine?"

"Yeah." He said, acting like it wasn't illegal.

"Tony I'm too young to drink."

"Not in Australia." He smirked.

"We're not in Australia."

"Hakuna Matata." Loki looked at you for an explanation.

"It means no worries-" You started.

"For the Rest of your days~" Tony interrupted, singing. You burst out laughing. Loki suddenly realised it was from another movie and laughed with you, calling Tony a "Dickhead" in the process.
