It was late at night at the Dead Moon Circus Tent. The Amazoness Quartet had just finished another show and were now relaxing at the parlor, pampering and spoiling themselves. They were tired and wanted to get some rest, but one among them was still energetic and wanted to play. That member was PallaPalla.
"Come on, don't you guys wanna play with PallaPalla?" she pleaded to VesVes.
"Not right now," replied VesVes as a shadow massaged her. "Now be quiet. I'm trying to relax over here."
"Can't you see we're a bit busy at the moment?" said CereCere as she rubbed some cream on her face. "We don't have time to play your games."
"Why don't you play by yourself?" suggested JunJun while she was reading a book. "Or better yet, you can ask Tenebris to play with you."
"Tenebris doesn't even know how to have fun," PallaPalla pouted. "Besides, I need to blow off some steam after those guardians keep getting in our way!"
"Which is why you should take a load off," said VesVes. "Nothing wrong with some R and R."
PallaPalla could only huff in annoyance. "Forget it! I'll just go and eat some sweets," she huffed. "At least it makes me feel better when I eat them."
She snapped her fingers, making a large puff of pink and blue cotton candy on a cone appear in her hand, and started wolfing it down by the handfuls.
"Hey, be careful not to make yourself choke," warned JunJun. "And with all the sweets you've been eating, I'm surprised you haven't gotten cavities."
"Now that you mention it, I have seen her eat a bunch of the snacks we've been serving during shows," said VesVes. "It's a miracle she hasn't gotten a single cavity."
Then, Zirconia appeared. "What's going on here?" she asked grumpily. "You girls are already slacking off?"
"Give us a break, Granny Zirconia," said JunJun. "In case you haven't noticed, we just finished a show and are as tired as hell. What more do you want from us?"
"What I want from you is to find Pegasus and the Silver Crystal!" barked Zirconia. "There isn't any time for slacking off!"
"But Zircon hasn't found any targets lately," VesVes pointed out. We can't get to work if we don't have a target."
"And I don't know if you've realized, Granny, but Zircon hasn't exactly been reliable when finding targets," said CereCere. "I mean, just ask the Amazon Trio. Not to mention, the last target it picked didn't have Pegasus in it."
"What are you talking about?!" Zirconia snapped indignantly. "I'll have you know that Zircon's quite capable!"
At that moment, Zircon came flapping in.
"Oh, speak of the devil," Zirconia said happily. "I've been expecting you, Zircon. Now, show me the next target that might possess Pegasus."
But all Zircon could do was hover in front of their master, its eye dipping apologetically.
Zirconia then gasped. "What's the matter? Are you telling me that you couldn't find a target?" she asked in surprise.
Zircon blinked in response, confirming her suspicions.
Zirconia felt deeply shocked. "This... This can't be!" the old hag spoke in bewilderment. "You were the only one I could rely on!"
"I hate to say we told you so, Granny, but we told you so," JunJun spoke flatly.
"Well, you can't really blame her," said CereCere. "This has never happened before. Then again, it's not as if Zircon's defective."
"Maybe he's just having a bad day," suggested VesVes.
