People always thought your marriage with Chan was an arranged marriage, but it wasn't. You knew how cold Chan was but it didn't bother you. You still loved him the same. You were always there for him and when needed you gave him space. Chan originally didn't want to marry you only because he thought he wasn't good enough for you and that you could find someone better. However, you told him otherwise and married him right away to prove so.
You've been married for almost a year now. Even though you say his cold behavior doesn't bother you, at certain times it does. He doesn't think before he speaks which is why his words sometimes hurt you. You'd give him time then he'd come back around and apologize with actions. Not words. Because he wasn't good at that.
You were sitting on the bed in your shared bedroom while Chan sat at his desk working away on his laptop. You were quite bored. He tended to be a workaholic and you'd have to pull him away from his work. He's been working nonstop all day today. You knew he needed to get this done, but you knew he was overworking himself like he always does. And you just wanted to do something with him.
When you tried pulling him away from his desk he didn't move. So you tried again but this time he got angry. But you didn't notice as you were now clinging onto him like a koala. To him you were starting to act like a whiny kid.
And that's when you felt your heart break as he spoke, "Grow up, Y/n. You're so childish."
You nodded as you cleared your throat and left the room. That was your biggest insecurity and he knew that.
You decided to leave him alone for the rest of the night. You stayed out in the living room and found some dramas to binge watch. You didn't know what time it was, but you assumed it was late because it was dark outside. You didn't hear Chan typing away on his laptop anymore so you assumed he was now sleeping. However, you still didn't want to return back into the bedroom. You were going to sleep on the couch instead since you were still hurt by his words.
You were startled awake by hearing noises coming from your bedroom. You were still half asleep and assumed Chan was awake and working again. But as you were about to shut your eyes to go back to sleep you heard cries. Chan's cries. This time you were wide awake.
You get up and make your way into the bedroom. Chan was asleep on the bed but tears were rolling down his face.
You felt your heart break heading his words, "Y/n... please don't go! Don't leave me!"
His cries turned louder. You went over to him and tried shaking him, but it wasn't working. You turned the lights on and started shaking him more.
"Chan. Chan, wake up!" You shook him.
His eyes jolted open and tears were still on his face. He quickly sits up seeing you and how worried you look. You sit closer to him wanting to comfort him. You knew he was having a nightmare and were glad you woke him up.
"What happened?" You ask, worried.
"It was just a nightmare." He can't even look you in the eyes.
"Do you wanna talk about it? It might help."
He takes a deep breath and looks at you, "I dreamt that I lost you after what happened earlier. That you packed up all your stuff and left me."
You frown, "Chan, you know I'd never do that."
"Even after everything I've done? All the harsh things I've said to you? You deserve someone better, Y/n. I love you but... It might be true. You might leave me one day when I don't expect it."
You aggressively grab his face so he's staring at you, "You are so wrong. I love you and only you. There will never be anyone else. I chose you. And I'm not leaving nor matter what happens. I will stick to you like glue."
Hearing your words makes you both think about what happened earlier. You remove your hands from his face. As you're about to get up you get pulled back down. You are now laid down on the bed in Chan's arms.
"Chan..."
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
You shake your head, "No, Chan. You were right. I'm too childish and I need to fix that. I'm also too clingy sometimes. I'll fix that too."
He cups your face using both of his hands and connects his lips to yours. When you try to pull out of the kiss he deepens it.
He places his thumb over your bottom lip, "Don't fix anything about you. I love everything about you. Especially how childish you are. It's cute."
He pulls you close into his embrace and you soften into his touch. No matter what you knew he was the person you wanted to spend the rest of your life with. He was the love of your life.
"I love you." He whispers, making you smile.
