You had spent most of your life in a wheelchair, due to an accident that had happened when you were a teenager.
A drunk driver had crashed into your car which caused you to be paralyzed. Ever since that accident your boyfriend, Chan, had always been by your side.
"I'm not going anywhere." He always promised you.
Your bright spirit and fierce determination was always shining through every challenge. You were a vibrant presence in this small town, known for your laughter and creativity, especially as you planned your wedding to Chan, the love of your life.
You had been together since you were teens, always sharing dreams and laughter. You were both excited about your future together.
When Chan had proposed to you, you were emotional like anyone would be. The day after, you went to your older brother, Yunho.
You showed him your engagement ring and told him everything about the proposal, but Yunho could tell something was bothering you. He had a feeling about what it was, but he wanted to hear the words from you.
"Y/n." Yunho starts, cutting you off mid-sentence as you were still talking about the proposal. "What's wrong?"
You looked at him, shaking your head."Nothing."
His lips pursed. "I know you too well to know there is something going on. Just tell me. I won't make fun of you."
You looked away, feeling almost embarrassed to tell him. Even though he was your older brother, your best friend, you felt you couldn't tell him what you were thinking. But you knew either way he'd find a way to get answers out of you. So, you sighed feeling defeated.
"To be honest... I don't think I can marry him. I don't think I can marry Chan." Your lips quivered.
His eyes widened. "What? Why?"
"Because... I mean, Yunho, I'm in a wheelchair! That's where I'll be for the rest of my life. I can't do anything normal humans can do. It's not fair to me, to him. He had dreams. Places he wanted to go. Things he wanted us to do together, but now I can't make any of those things come true."
"Y/n, you're being ridiculous. Do you seriously think he cares about that? He's been in love with you since you were teenagers. The only thing he's ever cared about is that you love him."
You knew Yunho was right, you just hate admitting to it. You wanted to let Yunho in on your secret plan you've been working on. For years you were secretly ongoing physical therapy.
The process was slow which you hated, you just wanted to be able to walk on your own. You had been keeping it to yourself all this time. You didn't tell Chan or Yunho. All because you wanted it to be a surprise.
But now that your wedding was around the corner you wanted more help. So, you got Yunho involved. He was surprised, yet happy to hear you were seeking physical therapy.
With all his might he agreed to help you. He wanted to make you, his little sister happy even if that meant keeping a secret like this from Chan.
He knew you had always dreamed of your wedding day. The white dress, the flowers, the vows. But he knew the one thing you had always wished for more than anything was to walk down the aisle on your own.
It's what he's always wanted to. To see you stand and feel the solid growth beneath your feet.
Keeping the secret from Chan wasn't easy nor was it hard. He worked so he never got suspicious of where you were going.
If he ever asked, you always told him you were out with Yunho.
And he knew you wanted to spend time with your brother before you'd leave for your honeymoon after the wedding.
The journey had been arduous with moments and of doubt. But in the end you had persevered, fueled by your own unwavering hope and the love you shared with Chan. And of course, the help and support from Yunho.
Yunho, your biggest supporter. He was there everyday providing emotional support and helping you with daily tasks. He would join you in exercises, motivating you to push yourself further.
He even created a special obstacle course in the backyard of his house, where you went after physical therapy.
The day of the wedding arrived, and as you sat in your wheelchair, waiting to be escorted down the aisle, you felt a mix of excitement and nervousness.
You took a deep breath, closed your eyes, and focused on the physical therapy sessions you had gone through.
With a surge of determination, you pushed yourself up from the wheelchair, your legs trembling slightly.
Gasps filled the room. You stood tall and proud. Yunho watched you with proudness in his eyes. Chan's eyes widened in joy and worryness. He watched as you, his bride, walked towards him. Every step is a testament to your resilience.
As you reached the altar, you turned to face Chan. Tears welled in your eyes. "I wanted to surprise you."
Chan's heart swelled with pride and love. He reached out to take your hand and together you exchanged vows. As you walked away as a married couple, you felt a sense of peace and fulfillment you had never felt before.
During the after party you walked over to Yunho and hugged him. As he watched you walk over to him, he watched you as if you were a baby again taking your first steps.
"I'm proud of you sis." Yunho whispered.
When Chan was told about the planning of this surprise he was shocked, but happy. Happy that Yunho was there with you the whole time, but he also couldn't believe you had been doing this behind his back for years.
As you and Chan slowed dance together he kept you close. His eyes focused on you and just the moment you were spending together. He had fallen in love with you all over again.
"I am so very in love with you." He says, causing you to giggle.
Then he leaned in and pressed a soft, gentle kiss to your lips.
You had not only surprised Chan, but also proven to yourself that with determination and hope, anything was possible.
