Y/N felt like she was floating. She had never felt so content and at peace. How did she get there? She didn't know. Why was she there? She didn't care. However, the peacefulness didn't last. There was an annoying beeping. Slowly, Y/N opened her eyes, squinting against the bright light.
Blinking, Y/N's eyes focused on a window. She was laying on her right side on a rather uncomfortable bed. Her hips felt sore. Y/N's back throbbed deeply and then she remembered what had happened.
Frantically, Y/N tried to sit up, thinking she was still in the cabin. She yelped when she felt a pinch on her arm and saw an IV. The beeping that had woken her sped up and she turned towards it. It was her heart monitor. Y/N looked around to see that she was in a large hospital room.
A noise behind her made Y/N try to sit up, but she yelped when the throbbing in her back turned into deep burning.
"Oh, miss, don't move!" A rushed female's voice said and got closer. Y/N was in such pain that she did her best to lay down as still as she could. As her head faced away from the door, she had to wait until the owner of the female voice came into view.
Y/N didn't have to wait long before a petite older Korean woman appeared in front of her wearing hospital scrubs and carrying a tablet. Y/N was slightly surprised to see technology being used in place of the typical paper charts.
"So, Miss Y/L/N, how are we currently feeling?" She asked me, holding the tablet's stylus ready. Y/N cleared her throat and took clear stock of herself.
"Dry throat, burning back, sore aching hips, and a small headache," Y/N blurted out. The nurse wrote everything down, then looked at Y/N with a small smile.
"The doctor will be here soon and we will take care of your pain. But, I can help with one thing now," The nurse said. She walked to a shelf near the hospital bed and poured a cup of water for Y/N. She also opened a sterile reusable straw and put it in the cup.
"Now, just lift your head a little, there you are," The nurse held the cup and straw in place so that Y/N could take a few drinks.
"You've been in and out of consciousness since you were brought in," The nurse explained as she helped Y/N lay comfortably again on her bed.
"H-how long?" Y/N asked quietly.
"Oh, you were brought in last night. They kept you unconscious while they treated your back. Then, you were allowed to rest naturally with pain killers. You've been here nearly twenty-four hours," the nurse finished as a knock was heard before a doctor entered, coming around to where Y/N was facing. The room Y/N was in was a private room, small but definitely expensive.
"Ah, yes, good to see you awake!" The doctor said enthusiastically, a bright smile on her face. She took the tablet from the nurse and looked through the notes. "I'm Doctor Lee Subin."
"Nice to meet you, Doctor Lee." Y/N said quietly, observing the woman. Y/N thought she looked to be in her early thirties and pretty. If Y/N was standing, she was sure the doctor would be taller than her.
"You let Nurse Baek know that you had pain in your back and hips? The back is understandable, but what about the hips? I see your medical records has note of a car accident years ago," The doctor mentioned, scrolling through the records on the tablet.
"Yes, my hips get sore if I lay in certain ways too long," Y/N said quietly. It was nice to put a name to the nurse that was helping her. It slipped her mind to even think to ask.
"Alright, now that you are conscious, we can get you in a sitting position instead. Nurse Baek, we can prop her up using pillows on the lower back and then soft extra bed sheets for the upper half. We don't want to aggravate her injuries," Doctor Lee instructed the nurse. The nurse nodded and pulled out a small notepad from her pocket and started to writing down notes.
