I hated pain. I hate it so much. I groaned as I rolled onto my stomach, trying to alleviate the pain in my abdomen.

A knock came on my door.

"Come in," I groaned as I hid my face.

"Hey, Esm- Woah," Zack said as he walked into my cabin, "Are you okay?" Zack came over and sat on the bed.

"No," I answered, shortly. I kept my face in my pillow. "I started today," I explained, shortly.

Zack winced and sighed, "Oooh, I'm sorry, honey." Zack kissed my forehead. "Anything I can do to help you?"

"Pain meds, and maybe a heating pad," I said.

"Okay, you got it," Zack went and grabbed my pain medication and the heating pad. He even plugged in the heating pad before handing it to me.

"You are so awesome, Zack. Thank you," I said as I stayed in bed, "I know you and the boys have your fantasy football thing this weekend, so you don't have to worry about me."

"Nah, nah, nah," Zack started.

"Zack, believe me, you should have fun with Marcus and Woody with the fantasy football. And believe me, you might wanna go before I change my mind and before I snap," I said.

Zack kissed my head, "Only if you say so, beautiful. You know I'm just a text or a call away. You need me, I'll be right here for you."

"I appreciate it," I said, "Oh, wait, hey. Can you put on The Crow for me?"

Zack chuckled and nodded, "I'll put on The Crow for you. Anything else before I go?"

I shook my head and sighed as I heard Zack put on the movie. "I'm okay for right now. I appreciate it, honey," I said as I slowly turned over onto my back.

"I love you, Esme," Zack said as he watched me in my bed.

I tiredly smiled at him, "I love you, too, Zack."

Zack closed the door behind him.

I slightly groaned, realizing that I wanted a cup of hot tea. I wasn't going to bother Zack since I knew he was going out to have fun. I carefully got out of my bed and slowly walked over to my little stationery that had my microwave, I grabbed my mug, poured a bottle of water into the mug, and heated it up. I put a tea bag in the water and poured sugar on top before mixing it all together. I climbed back into bed and relaxed as I watched my favorite movie.

It was almost 10 minutes into the movie, where Eric wakes out of his grave and goes back to the apartment when I got a text from Zack.

'Hey, beautiful. Just checking on you. How is your movie?'

'It's going wonderful. I forgot how much I love this movie.'

It was sweet that Zack was checking on me. Even when it hadn't even been more than 10 minutes at the bare minimum. Otherwise, my statement was true. The last time I had watched this was before my twin siblings were born. I remember watching this all the time with my mom when she was pregnant with them. Eric, my older brother, used to joke all the time and say that he was Eric Draven reincarnated. One year, for Halloween, Eric dressed up as the Crow. It was one of my favorite costumes that he had done.

I reached over to grab my laptop and opened up Skype. I started calling my mom.

"Hey, Essie, honey," Mom said as she answered the call.

"Hi, Mom," I said tiredly before taking a sip from my mug.

Mom studied my expressions. "You started, didn't you?" Mom asked softly. She was listening to the background, "And are you really watching The Crow, Esme?"

I softly chuckled, amazed that my mom could tell what movie it was based on the background noise. "How'd you know?" I asked.

"You know what's crazy, is I was just thinking of that movie the other day. Your brother had stopped by, and we actually watched it," Mom said, "You know, your brother wants to go dressed up as him again?"

I laughed, not surprised by my brother. "But hey, he'd actually have better money and better materials to dress up as him this time," I pointed out.

Mom nodded, "To make it worse, he's even been working out to get the same kind of physique."

I sighed and covered my face with my left hand while holding my mug with my right. "Why does that not surprise me? Eric's always been like that," I said.

"What about me?" Eric's voice popped in.

I gasped loudly and uncovered my face. "Eric!" I shouted in happiness. It had been years since I had seen him. I should mention that Eric actually worked on movies and costuming. He was one of the best in the business.

"Hey, Ez-Pez," Eric said with a smile, "Mom's been telling me all about this school you're in. Oh, speaking of which, did you get the bookmark I made?"

I nodded and smiled. "I'm using it as we speak. It's in my copy of The Outsiders," I explained.

"Of course it is," Eric chuckled, "Now, what's this I hear from Mom that you got a boyfriend?"

"Oh, Eric, don't tease her. Leave her alone," Mom said as she jokingly pushed him.

"Yeah, yeah, I do. His name is Zack. He's in my classes," I said as I nodded.

Mom gasped, "Hold up. Last you told me, you were with a guy named Justin."

I shrugged, realizing that I had forgotten to tell her that Justin and I had broken up. "Uhh, yeah, Mom. Justin and I broke up. I guess there was a girl that moved in on the same street or something. I dunno. He told me that they had a better connection. And yeah," I shrugged, "But it's okay, 'cause that gave me time to get closer to Zack and when we got back from summer break, Zack asked me out."

"Oh, I remember you telling me about Zack. The one that's always playing pranks, right?" Mom asked.

I nodded and smiled, "Yeah, that's the one. But it's been wonderful with him. He actually put on The Crow for me before I told him to go do his fantasy football with his buddies."

Mom raised her eyebrow at me.

"Mom, I told him to enjoy himself. Cause let's be honest here for a hot sec, I get to be bit of a bitch when I'm visited by Aunt Flow," I explained.

Mom laughed and shook her head. "Okay, sweetie. If you say so," Mom said.

"When do I get to meet Zack?" Eric asked, "Sounds like he might need some talking to, just to startle him."

"Eric, if you keep making threats like that, then you're never meeting him. Zack's a wonderful guy and extremely sweet. He doesn't need to be startled or scared by you or anybody else," I said.

Eric smiled at what I said, "My baby sister is standing up to me. Sounds like I really don't need to scare him. Sounds like she's already scared him."

"Eric, she definitely can handle herself," Mom said, "Besides, she learned the best from your father."

Eric nodded and so did I. "Dad was the best at scaring people," I said.

"Yeah, he was," Eric agreed, "Well, Ez-Pez, I'll let you enjoy your movie. Hopefully, you start feeling better. It'd be nice to let us know if you get close to Miami. We'll come see you."

"I'll keep an eye out on where we're heading. I love you guys," I said with a smile.

"I love you too," Mom and Eric said at the same time before we all hung up the call.
