The duo went to the Seoul PD for the first time since Taehyung's temporary release. The latter was a bit hesitant however they were asked by the superintendent to brief him on the status of the case. The moment he stepped in, all eyes were on him. Everyone knew him before and after he was sent to prison. Some gasped in surprise, some looked at him in disgust, some even shamed him calling 'criminal' and 'murderer'.
"Why don't you mind your own business?" Jungkook growled at those, going all defensive suddenly.
"It's okay Jungkook-ah, you don't have to defend me. It will ruin your image as well. Let them say whatever they want." Taehyung patted at the younger's shoulder.
The moment they entered their unit, the room went silent. All eyes were on them. "Tae..." Jimin came up running and hugged his friend with happy tears. "You had been out more than a week and you didn't even call me." Jimin complained.
"I still don't have a phone Jimin. My partner didn't buy me one." Taehyung smirked looking at Jungkook. The latter scoffed and averted his eyes. "And I'm still on house arrest by him. He tags along everywhere except for bathroom...oh wait you followed me to washroom last week at the pub as well." Taehyung pointed his finger at the other remembering a 'certain' moment they shared in the washroom.
*cough* Jungkook chokes on nothing as he clearly remembers that intimacy between them. "Well I don't trust you, not sure when you will plan for your escape, that's why I followed you." Jungkook raises his eyebrows with tongue poking on his cheek.
"Oh is that so? I thought it was because you
were—." Taehyung had to pause as Lee Jung Jae called for them both. Jungkook breathed softly, curving his lips to an 'O' as he was relieved that Taehyung didn't get to finish his sentence."Taehyung-ah, I'm so glad to see you. How are you son?" Jung Jae shook hands with his former team member. "Never been better hyung. Thank you so much for helping in my temporary release. I owe you a big time."
"Ahhh, no. I believe you Taehyung-ah. I'm sure you are not responsible for the incident. It's just...we couldn't find anything else that could lead to a third party." The superintendent sounded disappointed about it.
"It's okay hyung, even if it's for few days, I'm happy to help with this case. Although, if it's okay, I have few requests." Taehyung glances at Jungkook with side eye.
"What is it Taehyung?"
"Can I have a phone? And do I really have to stay with him?" He pointed at the silent detective beside him. The detective chuckles hearing that.
"I have arrange for a work phone but is there any problem staying with him? You know the government and the police agency will not allow you to stay alone right? It's one of the conditions." Jung Jae expresses his helplessness.
"What are the other conditions?" Taehyung asked curiously.
The superintendent looked at the younger detective in worry. "That's between the department and Mr Jeon." Jung Jae leaned back in the chair resting his back. "Let's talk about it later okay. Now, did you get any lead or information on this case? We don't have much time to waste."
Jungkook frowned at that. "If there is a next murder then it's most likely to happen on September right? We have like 6 months."
"Well that's another reason why I wanted to talk to you both. Today the Chief Commissioner informed that Taehyung was be on his temporary release only for 60 days and a week has already passed."
"What? Why now? That was not mentioned in the terms and conditions before?" Jungkook jumped forward from the couch. Taehyung was shocked as well.
"New contract will be issued soon. But please, we need to work on this as soon as possible." He sounded so desperate.
