It was one of the warmest days of a lovely summer and detective Jeon Jungkook, jogged placidly along the walkway of Han river in Seoul. He is quite new to this city. Although he likes the liveliness and bustling streets of this city, he misses his hometown in Busan.
It's been only two days since he moved here and he still doesn't understand why he was specifically asked by the chief of Seoul PD to be transferred to their department. It's true that he is known for his emotionless behaviour while at work, but that was known only to his team in Busan, so how come it reached far up north?
He paused his jogging to stretch himself facing the Han river. It's beautiful but nothing compared to Busan sea. He took out the AirPods from his ears to keep it back in its case. No—music is not his taste but he just use it for the noise cancellations. Often times he does listen to podcasts—crime thriller, true crime stories, solved and unsolved murders, and what not.
Maybe due to his peculiar interest, his social life has never been so great. Neither does he have any friends to even hang out with. Mostly he drinks alone in a bar close to his home.
Being a detective has always thrilled his younger self. The one who used to indulge himself into crime fiction novels, movies or even crossword puzzles. Back then podcasts were not a thing so he spend most of his time on movies, or whatever available.
Over his career of 5 years, he was praised for being the youngest detective at the age of 25, his attention to details and high talent in digging the unseen, his ruthless behaviour towards the suspects if he is sure they are guilty, milking out the confession.
It was not always sunshine and daisies. He had a rough patch at the beginning of his career, when it made him familiar with many tragedies, blood and even gruesome death. The 20 years old Jungkook had difficulties to breathe, unable to have food for days, nauseated and sick when exposed to the crime scenes. He made no complaints but sat quiet and still, taking his own time.
The movies and novels never told that reality is just sh!t. However none of it concerns him now. All those exposures only made him strong and resilient. Now this stone-hearted detective is here in Seoul, starting a new phase.

Jungkook set his feet in the Seoul PD and immediately he was taken to detective superintendent's office. The office was quiet large with files and books neatly arranged in an old wooden shelf, few papers scattered on the table with paper weights on it, a small coffee table and leather chairs in the middle for visitors to have conversation with the superintendent.
"Welcome to Seoul PD Mr Jeon. I'm glad you are here." The superintendent gave him a handshake and motioned his hand towards the chair, asking Jungkook to sit. Once he comfortably settled in, he went straight to the point.
