(XVIII) 'Don't worry, baby.'

At night, Yoongi and Jimin are in bed holding each other tightly. The former strokes Jimin's hair and plants a kiss on his head.

Jimin says, 'I'm scared.'
Yoongi asks, 'Why?'
Jimin asks, 'What if something goes wrong?'
Yoongi answers, 'Everything is gonna be all right and you know it.'
Jimin says, 'I don't know, Yoongi.'

Yoongi brushes Jimin's shoulder and says, 'I'll be with you no matter what happens. Yeah?'

Jimin says, 'Yeah...'
Yoongi says, 'I do feel like forcing you but you won't get this opportunity again.'
Jimin says, 'I get it...'
Yoongi says, 'This is our only hope of getting your eyesight back. I don't think you'd wanna let this go.'

Jimin hums in response.

Yoongi asks, 'What do you think is gonna go wrong?'
Jimin answers, 'I don't know, Yoongi. I just... Feel... Scared... Or... I don't know how to explain what I feel.'
Yoongi says, 'I get that feeling. I had the same feeling when I got my shoulder surgery done. It's an unexplainable feeling...'

Jimin says, 'Yeah, and I hope things will be fine.'
Yoongi says, 'Let's go meet the doctor tomorrow. It's gonna be all right. Yeah?'
Jimin says, 'Yeah...'
Yoongi says, 'Now let's sleep. Mmm...?'
Jimin says, 'Mmm... Good night, Yoongi.'
Yoongi says, 'Good night, baby.'

Jimin nuzzles up against Yoongi's neck. Yoongi closes his eyes and exhales sharply.

The next day.

Yoongi and Jimin are sitting in front of a doctor—his doctor's coat has a name on it—"Dr Samuel Taylor". Yoongi is holding Jimin's hand tightly.

Doctor Taylor says, 'He's ready for the surgery. We can admit him to the hospital today and go with the surgery tomorrow.'
Yoongi asks, 'Will he be okay?'
Doctor Taylor answers, 'Absolutely.'

Yoongi gulps nervously and Jimin parts his lips open.

The next day.

Jimin's parents are talking to him. Yoongi and his parents are talking outside the hospital room.

Mr Min says, 'We've talked to him. We'll wait until he comes back from the surgery.'
Mrs Min says, 'Don't worry. Everything will be fine.'
Yoongi says, 'Yeah...'

Mr Min flashes an assuring smile at Yoongi.

Yoongi walks into the room and holds Jimin's left hand. He says, 'Don't worry, baby. We'll be right outside the OT.'

Jimin hums in response.

Yoongi strokes Jimin's hand and plants a soft kiss on it.

A few nurses walk into the hospital room and one of them says, 'It's time for Mr Park's surgery.'

Yoongi says, 'Yeah.' and lets go of Jimin's hand.

The nurses move the bed Jimin is lying on out of the room and everybody else follows them.

Shortly, Jimin is taken into the operation theatre and his family waits outside—Yoongi looks restless.

Mrs Min holds Yoongi's hand and gently brushes it. He smiles a little in response.

Almost two hours pass.

Jimin is in the observation room—he slowly moves his toes.

A nurse in her 40s approaches Jimin and asks, 'Can you hear me, Mr Park?'

Jimin answers, 'Yes... Why can't I see anything? Where's my husband?'
She says, 'You have patches over your eye. We'll get rid of them tomorrow and give you an eye shield. About your husband... I'll let your family know that you're awake.'
Jimin says, 'Thank you, ma'am.'

Shortly, Yoongi walks to Jimin and holds his palm gently—he has IV lines on both of his hands.

Yoongi says, 'Baby...'
Jimin says, 'Yoongi, I can't see you.'
Yoongi says, 'It'll take time. You'll eventually see me. Yeah?'
Jimin says, 'Yeah...'

Yoongi flashes a smile and brushes Jimin's hand.

The next day.

Jimin is propped up on the bed with pillows—he is wearing a transparent eye shield.

Doctor Taylor asks, 'How do you feel, Mr Park?'
Jimin answers, 'I feel a bit uneasy... I don't know how to explain.'
Doctor Taylor says, 'That'll be all right. It's just a feeling and you have to continue taking the medicines because we don't want any rejection of the newly fixed corneas. Yeah?'
Jimin says, 'Yeah...'

Doctor Taylor says, 'You can talk to me if you have anything to talk about.'
Jimin asks, 'When will I get to see, Doctor?'
Doctor Taylor answers, 'It depends, Mr Park. Just a few weeks.'
Jimin says, 'Okay...'

Doctor Taylor smiles a little in response.

At night, Jimin is sleeping peacefully in bed—it is his room. Yoongi is lying next to him—he looks lost in thought.

Yoongi turns to his left and stares at the wall. He eventually closes his eyes and exhales sharply.

A few weeks pass.

Jimin is sitting on the couch in the living room—he is wearing glasses. Yoongi rings the doorbell and waits patiently.

Mrs Park rushes into the living room and opens the door. Yoongi walks in and closes the door. He spots Jimin sitting on the couch.

Jimin stands up and sheds tears.

Yoongi hurries to Jimin and keeps his office bag on the couch. He cups Jimin's face and shushes him.

Yoongi asks, 'What's wrong, baby?'
Jimin says, 'Yoongi...'
Yoongi says, 'You're not supposed to cry like this.'
Jimin says, 'Yoongi...'
Yoongi says, 'Tell me, baby.'

Mrs Park says, 'He can see everything clearly with the glasses.' and smiles a little at Yoongi.

Yoongi says, 'I see that you're back to wearing glasses. Is Mum right, baby?'
Jimin says, 'Yes...'

Yoongi chuckles softly as tears fill his eyes.

Mrs Park says, 'Doctor Taylor said that Jimin can get back to doing whatever he wants very soon.' and walks off to the kitchen.

Yoongi hugs Jimin tightly and plants several kisses on his head.

Jimin says, 'I can see you, Yoongi. I can see you again.' and sobs softly.

Yoongi shushes Jimin and breaks the hug.

Yoongi says, 'Yes, baby. You can.'
Jimin says, 'I must say that you look very handsome.'
Yoongi asks, 'Do I?'
Jimin answers, 'Yes, Yoongi.'

Yoongi blushes a little as he says, 'Thank you...'

Jimin embraces Yoongi again and plants a soft kiss on his ear.

Yoongi brushes Jimin's waist over his T-shirt.
