"Tim?" Dolly asked confused as she walked into the dark house, looking around to see no sign of light in the hallway but his shoes were messily strewn on the floor of the house, along with some randomly set out rose petals.
She followed after the trail with the grocery bags in her hands, staring down in confusion as it led her out of the kitchen and onto the back porch, looking into the middle of the garden and seeing him on the grass with lit candles and next to the flowers they had planted three years ago.
Tim remained motionless as his head was down and his knees were bent. A blanket had been set out on the grass to provide them with a bit of comfort while they enjoyed the view. Tim looked up as he saw his wife arrive, and he could see the curiosity in her eyes.
"Hey, sweetie," Tim said with a soft smile on his face.
"What are you doing?" She chuckled as she looked at her husband as she set the bags on the porch, walking down the steps, "You do know that those candles are a fire hazard right?"
Tim laughed slightly at his wife's comment about the candles being a fire hazard, but he could understand her point. However, he believed that setting the atmosphere was worth the risk of a fire hazard.
"Yeah, I know, but I'm just trying to create a romantic environment for us." He said as he gestured around the candles surrounding them.
"There's no anniversary, promotion or birthday so what's this all about?" She kneeled down next to him.
"Is it wrong for me to just celebrate my beautiful wife for no reason?" He asked playfully as he reached out and took her hand, squeezing it tight.
"By the way you're on grocery duty next week," She informed him, playing gently with the wedding ring on his finger.
Tim raised his eyebrows comically as he rolled his eyes in a playful manner.
"Oh really? And who decided that?" He asked jokingly as he glanced at her with an agitated smile. He knew he would be the one going grocery shopping regardless of who was 'assigned' to it.
"The twins spoke to me using telepathy, they told me to tell you that," She shrugged before looking back up at him.
"Oh, did they now?" Tim asked mockingly, his smile growing in amusement at the thought of his unborn children speaking through telepathy with their mother. "Well, what else did they say?" He asked innocently.
"Stop snoring at night," She put her fingers to her temples and started rubbing them, "And also can you fix the leaky faucet in the bathroom sink."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Tim rolled his eyes slightly, not denying the fact that he was a heavy snorer at night. "You know I can't control that, right? It's not my fault I have a bit of a congested nose." He shrugged off before finally deciding to address the other concern she had.
"I'll get to that faucet right away," Tim promised, leaning back and relaxing on the blanket.
"Now why are we out here?" She asked him as she finally sat down to relieve the pressure off of the bottom of her back.
Tim finally relaxed and laid back on the blanket after Dolly had taken her place.
"As I mentioned, I wanted to create a romantic atmosphere for us." He said, glancing around to show her each of the candles placed neatly on each side of them, "Now close your eyes for a second."
"Okay," Dolly complied as she raised a brow in confusion, resting her hands on her lap, as she helped her to stand up from where she sat.
Time passed by slowly as he waited for her to close her eyes. He could not contain his excitement as the anticipation of this romantic surprise took over him.
