"I broke you. But somehow, you are the one who fixed me."

It wasn't distractive until his eyes caught something in the corner. Sultan scrunched his face and excused himself. Aiming for his wife talking with something with his subordinate. It wasn't even five minutes but this little thing was already scrambling around.

Mahi stared at his way and commented,"Isn't he cute now that he is in love?"

"It's destruction,"Hamsa looked petrified for a Reason. She scanned her father who was lost in some deep thinking.

"Why are you saying that? Sultan is finally behaving like a human."

"He was my best project Mahi. My best human weapon. He was trained to block those sensations. He was never meant to be a human."

Upset she replied,"You are too selfish father! You are worried because he proved to be the best amongst your soldiers. Now that he is falling in love,so you are scared that he will soften. And then the monster you created won't go on a rampage on your signals?"

"Him falling in love is the most fearsome thing that will happen ever."

He led her to a dimly lit laboratory, the walls lined with rows of computers and medical equipment. The air was thick with the scent of disinfectant and something else, something acrid.

"This is where it all began," he said, his voice low and gravelly. "This is where I created the perfect soldiers, the perfect weapons. And Sultan was my masterpiece."

"You experimented on them, didn't you? You messed with their minds."

"I blocked their positive emotions. I drugged them daily manipulated their subconscious mind. Made them incapable of feeling love, compassion, or empathy. They were designed to be efficient, ruthless, and loyal only to me."

"That wasn't necessary father. That's inhumane."

"Because I wanted to create the perfect army. An army that would do my bidding without question, without hesitation. And Sultan was the best of them all."

"Then Kaisar started showing indifferent behaviour. And even then, he was like a bull freed from its cage. He kidnapped you, didn't he? He lost all control when he fell in love."

"He didn't hurt me, though. He loved me."

"An addict doesn't mess with his drug, Mahi. He'll do anything to get it, even if it means hurting everyone around him, including his own family. And Sultan...Sultan is far more dangerous than Kaisar ever was." His eyes casted down. "If anyone even me tries to separate them then he will not even hesitate to take my life."

Sultan's eyes narrowed as he approached Mishti, his gaze fixed on the scene before him. She was talking to Baseer, her face inches from his, and his hand was wiping away tears from her cheek. His eyes twitched, his nerves appearing on his face like a crack in a mirror.

Why was she crying before him? Why was he comforting her?

Her voice was low and urgent, her words spilling out in a rush. "Baseer bhai, please reconsider my words..."

But before she could finish, a pair of hands wrapped around her belly, pulling her close. Sultan dipped his face into the crook of her neck.

"Consider what?" he growled.

Baseer laughed, brushing off the tension. "Just a friendly conversation."

Sultan's eyes lingered on him, his expression unreadable. But he said nothing, merely turning to her and escorting her away.
