Personality: Being raised as a true-born targaryen princess Maera has been raised into a kind, respectful and lovely young lady by her mother, father and grandparents. She has a soothing, gentle voice and cares a lot for her family, friends and possible lover. She enjoys to go flying on her dragon Dreamcatcher, a cunning blue large female dragon (one of Syrax' and Caraxes' hatchlings and sibling to Moondancer). Who's nickname is the Gentle beast — named after the tides surrounding Driftmark, for Dreamcatcher is also gentle, but at the same time a true beast when it comes to it
Maera never hesitates to help out others and wants what's best for them. She's taken a liking to the people of kings landing and like her mother, tries to help them out whenever she can. Making her known and beloved by all of the smallfolk— although she tries her visits to the poor to remain a secret. And so far the people of the small folk have kept it. She often sneaks out of the castle of the Red Keep so enjoy nights out in the streets of Kings Landing. Often having a protector with her just in case she ends up being countered by people with less friendly intentions toward the girl. She spends most time at Dragonstone but often residences at Hightide (Driftmark) to keep in touch with the other part of her family. She has a pretty close bond with her grandparents, Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen. She's on good terms with her stepmother Rhaenyra, who took her, Baela and Rhaena in as if they were her own daughters after they lost their mother Laena to childbirth. Since then, Rhaena and Maera remained at Dragonstone, wanting to stay close to their father whilst Baela preferred the presence of their grandmother Rhaenys at Driftmark. But the girls often visit each other to spend time on Dragonback.
Whilst being at dragonstone, and growing up there over the years, Maera and Lucerys have become great friends, same could be said for Maera and Jacaerys, although other's claim it might evelop into something more.. When it comes to her family at the Red Keep, the only person Maera is on good terms with appears to be the princess Helaena— of Aegon and Aemond could not be said the same. Aegon tried to woo Maera multiple times, in which she rejected him with each attempt he has made, causing her to harbor a strong dislike for the targaryen prince. Aemond and Maera haven't been around eachother for that much, but Maera hates him for claiming Vhagar at her own mother's funeral, and will probably never forgive him for that.
