L A S Y A

We sneaked in through the main entrance of the mansion. I checked the time on my phone; it was half past eleven, meaning everyone might have slept by now.

I racked my eyes in every direction, searching for a trace of any family member. I breathed a sigh of relief when I found the living room empty and slowly motioned Moksh to follow me.

We sneaked in like a thief towards the kitchen on our tiptoes, too afraid to spoil our surprise to any of the family members. Once inside the kitchen, we took deep breaths of relief and stared at each other.

"You sure you weren't a thief in your previous life?", Moksh whispered as he wiped a non-existent sweat drop on his forehead and kept the packages on the slab. "Aahista boliye", I whisper keeping a finger on my lips.

[Translation: speak slowly]

"Aur kitna dheere bolu, abhi sigh language toh nhi use kar sakta", he thinned his eyebrows and swatted my finger off my lips. "Whatever", I shrugged and turned my body towards the kitchen island and opened the packages.

[Translation: And how slowly should I  speak? I can't do it in Sigh language right now"

Opening the packages we were blessed with the delicious aroma of Jalebi batter. We took a big sniff of the heavenly aroma and smiled at each other.

After Dadi nostalgically narrated to us her love for the jalebis from her favourite halwai, I decided to surprise her on her anniversary. I knew that the delicacy held a special place in her heart as it was a cherishable memory of her newly married days with her husband, aka Dadaji.

So I took it upon myself to find the halwai and surprise my precious lady. It took me hours to clear the blurred image and find the address and name of the shop. Initially, I had loosened hope, but thanks to AI technology I was successful in extracting the necessary information.

After finding the shop's name and location, I contacted Nevan, the pro hacker who shared with me the needed information and locations with a few taps on his keyboard. The guy was a great Ethical hacker, I swear. He was too passionate about his work and spoke about it so fondly, but these days I have seen him a bit lost and stressed about something.

Even though I so wanted to dig into asking him but thought otherwise, I didn't want to make him awkward or want him to think that I was unnecessarily interfering in his life. Since we were not very close, I concluded that I'd ask him in the future.
