Chapter 5

A girl covered in noble attire is panting heavily, her eyes widening with horror while shaking with fear, hiding behind a closet. A figure with a black cloak hummed a happy child song.

"Little Angel, where could you have gone?~" The figure asked with a sinister laugh, holding a hyancinth flower on their small petite hand.

The girl didn't answered their calls, before the figure had killed her parents in the middle of the night. From what she saw the figure was a petite child holding a hyancinth flower yet they had an ominous demonic aura from it.

Her parents were covered in Hyancinth flowers, pool of blood coming out of their bodies with their mouth gagged open. Their bodies reek of hyancith scent from afar yet the girl wasnt affected by it as she was far away from the corpses. The scene alone was enough to answer the question she had in mind.

"You know, you can't play hide and seek forever little Gabriella, I need you for my little game." The figure stated while giggling with a high pitched voice slowly turning into a mature woman voice.

"If you keep playing Gabriella-chan, you might have to live with that trauma of yours, for the rest of your life." The figure added with a mother voice, their voice sounded angelic but had a sharp edge on it while humming.

The girl named Gabriella hold her breath, kept praying to god to save her from this situation. God wouldn't abandon her now would he? As the figure hummed, they stopped, turning their head into the closet. The figure cackled, their neck cracks hearing her prayers

"FOUND YOU."

Xiao eyes open wide as he rises up from the branch, panting heavily. He hold his chest tight, suffocating from the unbearable pain. He grunts in agony, gritting his teeth.

"Damn it, it relapse once again." He mumbled to himself. He vanished into thin air, teleporting to Albedo's house.

Albedo stare at the result of the hyancith flower petals. The petals were made out of crystals yet releasing some sort of poisonous mist, even if Albedo himself is immune to this, he couldn't handle the mist so he had to wear a mask.

"I need some test subjects... So that means a mouse and-" Before he could finish his thoughts.

BLAM! The window opened as a giant whirl of wind flew into his office. He managed to protect all of his projects and papersheets. He turned around to see Xiao there, his golden eyes still hollow and empty from the pain.

Albedo blinks his eyes, after he got a grasp of the situation he sighed.

"Did you have another nightmare again Xiao?" Albedo questioned as he tidied up the papers and petals before putting it in a safety place.

Albedo is a patient person, he never seemed bothered by Xiao's sudden appearance while he was working, he knew Xiao's nightmares are uncontrollable and he understands that very well. Klee, his little adoptive sister died in a car accident and he still has flashbacks of it whenever he went to sleep.

Xiao nodded slowly as he jumped onto the floor, walking towards Albedo, he lend out his hand, wanting the pills. Albedo realized Xiao's gesture immediately.

"Hold on." He said as he went to one of his medicine box, ruffling through the piles of medicine.

He took out a bottle of pills, he slowly separate them from the rest of the pills before putting the bottle of pills inside the box again. He hands the pills to Xiao.

"These should be enough. Make sure to take them once you've arrived at your tree. It should be able to ease the karmic debt and made you sleepy." Albedo stated, Xiao only nodded and bowed down as a gratitude. Xiao stayed quiet as he stare at the pills.

"It wasn't the karmic debt that woke me up." Xiao explained in a straightforward tone. Albedo tilted his head.

"I have a bad feeling that we will have to deal with a very difficult case tomorrow. I've received a vision of the Changeling, it was something out of a horror movie like you humans would call it..." Xiao added, his body trembling not due to the fear but due to the uneasiness of the vision. Albedo stayed quiet and sighed, only shooking his head.

"I'm sure it's nothing Xiao, you should get some rest okay?" Xiao raised his head, only ruffling his hair.

"Of course you don't believe me.. " He muttered quietly before giving Albedo in a disappointed look, Albedo stayed quiet. Xiao walks towards the window as he climbed up.

"I'll be going now, I appreciate the medicine you gave me." He stated flatly as he jumped down to the ground, turning into a green breeze of wind.

As the wind disappear into thin air, Albedo stare at the starry night sky. Worried if Xiao's vision came true, if that were the case, then the "Changeling" that Alhaitham and Xiao had to face, is also connected to this murder case as well.

"What is the motivation of this supposed "changeling"? I still couldn't get the grasp of it..." He muttered to himself as he stare at the clues.
