The sound of water droplets falling from the rooftop could be heard from a distance, mice crawling in the sewers with spider webs all over the buildings, indicating its ancient age could be seen from Ratio's point of view.
Ratio held the earphone in his ear tightly as his feet stepped on the puddles of water, bit by bit. He looked at the map on his phone, following the signal. A red dot could be seen pinned onto the map. Ratio pressed his earphones while looking around the abandoned alleyway.
"Are you sure this is the right place, Dan Heng?" He inquired as he kept walking.
Dan Heng, who was in his room, began typing on his keyboard. The sound of his fingers dancing on them could be heard from the call. His sharp blue eyes were scanning the screen in front of him. He pressed the microphone button as he saw Ratio getting closer to the target, speaking to him in a hushed tone.
"The target is 1 AM to the West; she's currently talking to someone," Dan Heng said.
Ratio glanced in the direction Dan Heng gave him, he noticed a woman with Halovian wings and emerald green eyes talking to someone through the phone, her voice sounded like murmurs as he couldn't hear what they were saying to the person across the phone.
He hid behind a group of crates, covering his tracks and making sure to be as still and silent as possible. The woman seemed quite upset as she fought with someone, he couldn't hear it clearly, all he could hear were the words 'gambler', cursing them with irritation.
Once Ratio could hear her mumumblinghe the word gambler, his eyes widened in shock. There's one person who is known with that nickname, could that mean the person he trusted with the Halovian task was a traitor all along? He continued to listen, the woman became furious, and his hearing began to sharpen bit by bit with Dan Heng's technology.
"What do you mean you told him about my meetings with Sunday?!"
"Well, it was the only way to get him off my tail no? I was just doing what is necessary."
"Do you realize how much our identity might be exposed by the intelligentsia guild?! Our life is in the line here!."
"Miss Nithya I can assure you that I gave fake photos of you and Sunday, he wouldn't find out about it."
"I don't care, you're putting me and Sunday under the watchful gaze of the intelligentsia guild! What type of stupidity did you just drag us in?!"
Ratio stayed quiet before clenching his fist and gritting his teeth. He knew he shouldn't have trusted that damned gambler, yet something inside him believed that he might be useful. Oh how much of a fool he truly is.
The woman named Nithya massaged her forehead, sighing deeply before turning around, Ratio immediately hid behind the crates, making sure he couldn't be seen. Nithya stayed quiet, squinting her eyes. Her appearance slowly changed as she stared at the crates that were covering Ratio's muscular body.
"Call me later Aventurine, someone is listening to our conversation." She whispered, hanging up the phone. Ratio cursed to himself, did she realize was there?!
Nithya stepped closer and closer as she revealed her true mythical identity. Her light lavender curly hair turned a beautiful peach color and her emerald eyes turned crystal blue ocean eyes.
She swung her hand, summoning a scythe, and the sound of her high heels clanking could be heard, Ratio took out a small chalk from his pocket, pressing the tip of it. The chalk immediately transformed into a sword, he put on his tracking glasses, gripping his sword, ready to reflect the attack.
Nithya spun her scythe before holding onto it once more as lavender petals began swirling around her weapon, she ran towards the crates, swinging it. The crates filled with fruits broke down, and Ratio backed down instantly, putting his hand on the ground.
He looked up to see Nithya flying in the air, ready to attack him. Ratio got up from his place, their weapons clashing with one another. Due to Ratio's build, he swiped his sword with the Scythe, making Nithya's balance unstable before deflecting it to the other side. The scythe flew and hit the ground, far from Nithya's reach. Before she could react, Ratio put his sword onto her neck in a quick move, making her freeze in place.
"So this is what you're real identity looks like." Ratio commented while staring into her eyes, a sense of familiarity washed over him as if he had just seen an old friend. Nithya stayed still, her eyes sparkling with some sort of nostalgia.
"It's been a while, hasn't it, Acytus? " she asked solemnly. She then chuckled quietly before sighing.
"Oh right, I forgot you're not him." She added, sighing deeply as she glanced away, Ratio glared at her before putting his sword closer to her neck, almost making her bleed.
"Who are you?" Ratio inquired, he couldn't help but feel like he shouldn't be too harsh on her but he pushed those feelings aside.
"I should be the one asking that no?" Nithya responded as she closed her eyes, and tears began forming around her.
"Tell me Ratio, what are you exactly?" She whispered, Ratio eyes widened. Ratio tried to mask his surprised face as he stepped closer to her, he swung his hands, and the petals began to be put together like a puzzle piece, Nithya was startled as the petals disappeared, revealing her in the flesh.
"Do you think I'm a fool like Albedo?" He questioned, he gripped onto Nithya's hand, dragging her while chaining her to the wall.
"You're going to answer every, single, question I have and I'm not letting you go till I have all the answers I Ieeded from you." He demanded before gripping one chain.
"Understood?" Nithya stayed quiet before chuckling slightly.
"You do act similar to him." She muttered before smiling.
"If you promise not to hand me over to the intelligentsia guild, we can talk." She added, smiling sinisterly, ratio squinted his eyes in suspicion, and he sighed before facing her once more.
"Alright.""Great we have a deal then," Nithya said before gazing at him,
