Hey, pull over here," I say. She pulls over to the side of the road. "Get the bags." We sit on the hood of the car and count how much money we have and what food we had left. "Yeah, we definitely don't have enough for food and a hotel," JJ says, biting her nails.
"I think we should save the money for food and gas; we can sleep in the car," I proclaim.
"Yeah, yeah," she nods.
"We can't just sleep on the side of the road though," I say, gesturing for us to get back in the car. We jump in the seats on a search to find a place to park.
"Hey, look, there's a gas station with a parking garage," JJ says. She pulls the car in. The gas station appears to be closed, which is weird because gas stations are usually open 24 hours a day. JJ sleeps on the back seats since she hasn't slept, and I slept in the car when we were driving.
"You sure you don't want to sleep back here with me?" she asks.
"Baby, it's okay; there's not enough space for me back there. You just get some rest." She turns over in the chairs. I just sit and stare out of the car window, listening to her doze off. I get out of the car to get some fresh air. I take a deep breath in and out, trying to hold in my tears. I couldn't believe what has happened over these few days; my whole life crumbled in a matter of hours. I wanted to scream until I had no air left in me. I wanted to run and never stop, but I couldn't. I couldn't leave JJ. I couldn't go back home to a place where I have no one there for me. I sat back in the car and fell asleep looking out the window with the radio on a light volume.
When I woke up, JJ wasn't there. I looked around outside the windows, then I looked outside the one by me, and a hand smacked the window, making me jump out of my skin. JJ appeared, laughing.
"You idiot," I said, holding my chest.
"Can't hear you," she said, almost rolling on the floor laughing.
I rolled down the window. "I hate you," trying to stay mad at her.
"Sure you do," she looked deep in my eyes.
"Come here," I smiled. She leaned forward and kissed me.
"Get in the car," I smiled and laughed.
"Okay," she said and began crawling in the passenger seat window.
"JJ, not the window," I laughed.
"You said get in," she said, half hanging out of the window.
"By the door."
"Well, too late now." She pulled her legs in and sat on my lap.
"Hey, how you doing?" she said in a deep voice and winked.
"Not too bad, and yourself," I laughed.
"Better now I'm with you," she put her arms around my neck.
"You gonna kiss me or not?" I said, looking into her eyes.
"Well, if you have to beg me, I better make it worth my while," she giggled.
"Come on," I bit my lip.
"Hmmm," she said, tapping her lip as though in thought and quickly gave me a peck on the lips.
"Is that it?" I looked down as if I was sad.
"Well, if you're so desperate."
"I am, I really, really am," biting my lip so hard it might have bled. She leaned forward, pulling my neck closer to her. Our lips almost touching, I could feel breath on my lips. She put her nose against mine.
"Kiss me then," she whispered. I grabbed the back of her neck and pushed her lips into mine.
"We better get going now," I said, trying to pull myself back.
"Yeah, we better," she smirked and pulled herself into the driver's seat.
