Kit's POV

Waking up with Roland in my arms was the best feeling I've had at camp so far. His back was tucked into my chest with my arms wrapped around his body. He was so warm and knocked absolutely the fuck out. His face was red and his lips were pooched out in a pout. He was so cute.

However, the fact that I woke up before him was not a comforting thought. Roland was up with the sun even for things he didn't want to do while I tended to be the one to sleep in until the last minute.

I moved just enough to get a better look at his face but that was enough to wake him up. He groaned at the move but didn't actually get up, only shoved his head farther into the pillow.

"Good morning," I said as I placed a gentle kiss on check. He groaned at that too as he pushed my face away. "We have to get up. It's time for school."

"I'm not going," he said, slipping in farther under the covers.

"I don't think Mary is going to like that."

"I don't feel good," he groaned. "I'm not going." I frowned at that as I got off the bed and bent down in front of him.

"What kind of don't feel good? Like throw up or sore throat?"

"Like my head is going to explode and I'm going to freeze to death. I feel like I'm dying." Nothing but his nose and hair stuck out of the covers. I reached out to feel his forehead and it made it clear that the main reason he was so warm in my arms was because he had a fever.

"Okay, no school for you then," I said with a frown. "I'm going to go tell Mary and make her get the nurse."

"I don't need a nurse," he slurred. "It's just a head cold. I was just kidding about the dying part." I couldn't help but chuckle at the way he had to explain his sarcasm. I ruffled his hair and let it stay there to play for a moment.

"Well you'll still need medicine and Mary needs to know why you aren't in class."

"I don't want you to leave," he moaned as he looked at me with those big brown eyes.

"It'll be for three minutes tops. I'll go get Mary and tell her to get everything set up, and then I'll come right back here." He frowned but didn't argue.

I didn't bother getting dressed, I ran to the front office with bare feet and nothing but sweat pants that I think were technically one of my friend's from rehab but I didn't care. The second I got into the office I ran into Mary's office, not even bothering to stop by the receptionist.

"Dear god where are your clothes," Mary asked, looking absolutely appalled. "And your shoes! It's still too cold for you to be out here not wearing shoes! You're going to catch a cold."

"Roland is sick," I said trying to control my breathing. "He needs an excuse for school and the nurse." She became more understanding in seconds.

"Okay no problem. I'll write a school excuse and grab the nurse. We'll be at your cabin in a few minutes okay? Get him decent if he isn't already and why don't you put on a shirt too when you get back. Do you want Andrew to come hang out with him while you go to class?"

"He doesn't want me to leave. It's probably best if I stuck around him today." She frowned at my words.

"You need to go to class. I know you and Roland are boyfriends now but you can't stay home just because he's sick."

"We'll talk about this at the cabin. I told Roland I would only be away for a few minutes. Go get the nurse and meet us there."

I didn't wait for her response as I turned and left the office.

"That was 6 minutes," Roland said the second I opened our door. "Liar."

"I can only run so fast," I teased as I sat down on the edge of the bed and grabbed his hand to draw small circles on his hand. "I'm not in the best of shape you know."

"That is not true," he slurred as he let go off my hand to poke my stomach. "There's nothing there other than pure muscle. You're in very good shape." I laughed again and poked his well developed arm.

"You're in pretty good shape yourself," I teased. "You know your muscles were the first thing I started liking about you."

"Man whore," he scoffed. "You're supposed to say things like you liked me for my sense of humor or something, not my muscles."

"Well I'm sorry but I'm not blind and you're hot so of course that's where I looked." He groaned as he gentle pushed me away from him.

"We're done. I'm not going to date a man that only likes me for my looks."

"I didn't say that was the only reason I wanted to date you. I like you for more than just your muscles." He hummed and took my hand again.

"Then I guess we can still date," he said as a knock came on the door. I found a shirt on the floor and pulled it over my head before letting Mary and the nurse in.

"I heard you're feeling sick today," the nurse says as she comes to stand in front of Roland. "Can you tell me what's going on?"

"I have a dust allergy," he said as he closed his eyes. "I didn't think the shop would make it act up so bad. But now I have a fever, my head is killing me, my throat hurts, and I can't breathe out of my nose holes."

"Okay, I'm sorry to hear that. Can I take your temperature?" He nodded and the nurse frowned at the number it read. "Well good news, it's not at hospital heat yet but we're going to have to keep an eye out for that. For now we're going to get you some Tylenol and some cold meds and see if that helps. Have you had a drug problem before coming to camp," she asked him. He frowned and shook his head. "Have you," she asked me and I hated getting asked that question.

"Not that kind of drug," I said honestly though I hated to admit it. "Heroin was my choice. You can keep his meds here." She looked to Marry to see what she decided; she nodded and she began pulling bottles out of the bag on her side.

"I'll be back every two hours to check up on you. Don't take any of these until I tell you it's okay. You're pretty small, don't want you to get hurt over this alright?" Roland nodded again and the nurse left.

"So obviously you're out of school today, we'll see how you feel day to day to decide how long you'll be out for. Now, Kit tells me you want him around all day? I can't let him hang out with you all day but I can get Andrew if you don't want to be alone."

"I don't want Andrew, I want Kit."

"He has school to do."

"He's smart, he can do it here while I rest."

"He's got tests to take."

"And he can't exactly cheat here without internet. All of our tests are open book anyway." Marry had a harsh frown on her face as she looked at Roland's flush skin and tired eyes. She sighed before nodding.

"Okay. Kit can stay. I'll write both of you a note. If you need anything you make Kit come get someone alright?" Roland nodded again, seeming to not care about this conversation anymore. "Alright, well I'll leave you two it. Try to get him to eat something."

"I don't want breakfast," he said the second she left.

"You need breakfast especially having those meds in your system."

"No."

It took a lot of convincing but after a while he agreed and I left just long enough to get food before coming back to the cabin. Getting him to actually sit up and eat was a whole other ordeal but eventually I convince him. After breakfast he lays back down and pulls his blanket up to his cheeks.

"Come lay down with me," he said and I couldn't say no to those eyes.

I took the same position as last night, holding Roland as close to my chest as I could. He relaxed into the tight grip as his hand held mine.

"You should rest," I told him after a while of him playing with my hands, moving them randomly, picking at my nails gently, drawing little shapes, anything to occupy his mind.

"I am resting. Not many ways to be bedridden and not resting."

"I meant sleeping. You heal the fastest in your sleep right?" He huffed at the logic but didn't fight it.

His tired eyes closed and I pulled him closer to my chest. I hated having to be in bed all day but if it meant making him comfortable it was worth it.

When sleep started tugging at my eyes a few minutes later I placed one last kiss on his ear before drifting off. Even half asleep I don't miss the small moan that comes out of his mouth or the way his back arches but I force myself to leave those thoughts behind and fall into sleep.
