Author's POV
Have you ever felt like somebody suctioned the air out of your lungs, and just a void was left inside of you now? That's how Roohi felt when Ridhaan spoke about death from his mouth. For the last five years he would visit Roohi in the hospital everyday, sit by her side and tell her about every minute of his day like before. Sometimes he would bring along food and have it beside her, or just listen to some music sitting by her side. He would even talk to her and beg her to come back to him, however this was the first time he outrightly stated that when one day she would finally come out of her half dead state, he might not be there for her to see.
It was his words, or his love, she didn't knew but they poured life into her. The thought of her not seeing him before his end, or even hers, was too painful. It pained her heart, and you know what humans do when something pains their heart? They try to divert themselves by giving their own selves physical ache. That's what Roohi's body did, the pain her heart was getting too much to bear, hence she put all her remaining force towards pushing herself to move her body and regain consciousness. As much as the effort pained her, it managed to deflect the ache of her heart.
Her fingers moved in his hold, his tears were still drenching his face and her hands when he was startled as his finger slightly poked his cheek. He looked up shocked only to see her fingers moving softly and her breath fastening slightly. The monitor beside her started showing an increase in her pulse rate as well. This made him panic.
He immediately pressed the emergency button in her room and started rubbing her hands, trying to call her, "Rooh...Rooh tum sun rahi ho mujhe? Main yahin hun, calm down."
He rubbed her hands and then forehead, when the doctors barged in. He tried to move back but her hand held onto his tightly even in unconscious state and he was too shocked to react. He stood stoned, feeling ecstacy and nervousness as he realised her life force was coming back. However, she was panicking, her flight and fight instinct was high at the moment. The doctors worked around her, trying to calm her down while Ridhaan just stood there looking at her.
He took her hand and kept it on his heart, then whispered to her softly, "Rooh calm down, I am here. You're doing good. Come back. Come back to me. Tumhe kuch nhi hoga, bas thoda sa or effort."
He could now feel her life force fighting, their heartbeats synced as she could feel his heart under her hand. Her chest raised for a deep breath, and he could see trying to suck in a huge amount of breath. Her head too moved, however her face scrunched in distress. He was puzzled while Roohi here had some flashes in front of her closed eyes.
The temple!
Ashiaa descending down the stairs!
The sniper pointing the gun at her!
The bullets hitting herself!
Her tumbling down the staircase!
And last, Ridhaan's face before she closed her eyes.
Her eyes scrunched more as her fear kicked in even in subconscious state. Ridhaan leaned down and started whispering not knowing what was happening, "Rooh, you're safe. I don't know what is happening. But trust your Ridhaan, you're safe now. Please open your eyes. Please."
