Chapter 4:
Once we arrived at the college, I stopped and took in my surroundings. The school looked like something pulled out of the rich people magazine, and so did the cars, the people, HECK! The whole area screamed rich. Once we got through the doors, I noticed all the males in the vicinity practically salivating when we walked in (how creepy!) Surely, they're looking at Min Su. I'm not nearly as pretty as her. I thought dejectedly. In case you haven’t noticed, my self-confidence took a nosedive after the Incident.
"Well, gotta go! See ya later!" said Min Su suddenly, and abruptly rushed off without another word. "Wait! MIN SU!” I hollered, then gave up and sighed. How am I going to find the registration desk now? I looked around, and walked up to the first person I saw and promptly asked, "Excuse me, could you tell me where the registration desk is?"
He turned around and said, "Ummm, yeah! It's right over there, down that hall,"
"Oh! Ok, Gamsahabnida [Thank You], umm..."
"Oh! Sorry, my name’s Key," said the relatively good looking boy, smiling kindly.
"Key! Ok!” This one, I would remember. “My name’s Jess."
Key smiled even wider. "Nice to meet you, Jess!"
"You too!” I replied courteously. “Well, suppose I've got to go to class, Key. See ya later!"
"See ya! Oh, and Jess?"
"Yeah?"
"Nice dress!"
I blushed and smiled, then ran down the hall to the registration desk. I composed myself and walked up to the generic-looking Korean woman behind the counter.
"Annyeonghaseyo! [Hello]” I said, bowing respectfully. “I'm here to register."
"Wow! Your Korean is very good!" she said, impressed. "Thank you!" I gave her my name and she looked up my timetable. "Ah! Here it is!" announced the woman, quickly printing out a copy for me. “Gamsahabnida! [Thank You]” I said as I bowed, then turned and walked away.
I looked down at my timetable, when suddenly I heard a noise from behind me. I looked up, and as beginners luck would have it, I ran into somebody. Crap! I fell rock hard on the floor, with the student landing right smack on top of me. And not just any student, a male student...a HOT male student. Ugh, could I get any more clichéd? Honestly, my life seems like a freakin’ soap opera sometimes.
He stared down at me, his arms around my waist, and dang, I just couldn't stop staring at him. I didn’t know where to look first. His messy black hair suited him so well. He clearly had biceps coming out of his shirt. His eyes were brown..and they were big. He wore a blue-and-white hoodie and grey track pants. He just looked down at me with those big, exotic brown eyes with concern. Or at least, I THOUGHT it was concern...
"I know I'm hot, but literally falling for me? Seriously?" Then he let out a deep chuckle. Ugh. Who does this punk think he is? Some celebrity? Well, I’ll fix this situation with some good, old-fashioned sass.
"Excuse me? No, you clearly walked into me, so you're falling for me," I said, quite proud of my comeback.
He clearly was taken aback by this. "Babe, please. You bumped into me. End of story."
Before I could say something back, he grabbed me up from the floor, with his arm around my waist, and lifted me to my feet. He then gave me an up and down look, then smirked. "I'm Brie Jang. The ladies call me Brie-Oppa," he said as he gave me a wink. I couldn't believe him. Pompous, idiotic jerkwad. I quickly pushed him away and snidely replied,
"Huh. I'm Jess. But you call me Jess, ok? None of this ‘Babe’ crap. " I looked at him with a stern look. He laughed at this, but agreed. He then saw my timetable, and grabbed it.
"HEY! Give me my timetable back!" I pleaded, reaching as far as I could over his shoulder. Not surprisingly, he didn’t. He read it then said, "You’ve got Chemistry 1st period. Shall I take you to your classroom? Or, better. We could skip class and have our own chemistry, babe.." With this, he pulled me closer, making me feel more frustrated.
"UGH, WHAT THE HECK!!" I pushed him off, disgusted. “Please. That is such a lame pick-up line. Better luck next time, boy." I said this in English so he wouldn't understand it. He regarded me coldly before replying.
"Oh, there will be a next time, babe. Trust me on that," he replied in flawless English. Crap! He knew English!...and his Asian accent was...kind of hot.GOD, JESS, STOP! Stop thinking about him that way. He smirked, as if sensing my thoughts, and he came closer to cup my face. "Till we meet again, Jess," he said as he winked, then just walked off! UGH, What a pervert.
As I grabbed my crumpled timetable off the floor, Min Su came running. "Oh my gosh!!! Was that Brie-Oppa? You're so lucky to talk to him!" I couldn’t believe this. "Please! He's just a stuck up jerk."
Min Su obviously wasn’t buying this, but she said, "Well... I'm going to walk you to your classroom, arrasso [Ok?]?" Thank God, maybe this time I wouldn’t get harassed. "Ok! So, what were you thinking leaving me like that?!? I just got here yesterday, after all!"
"I'm sorry! I had to use the bathroom to touch up my hair and makeup!"
I sighed. It was going to be a long week.
