After that little incident, Brie & I both walked down to the lunchroom where Min Su and the rest of the group were all sitting at the lunch table. As we approached, Key instantly said, “Hey Jess! Hey Brie!”
“Hey!” I said, waving. “Sup?” Brie said with a smirk. Geez, always gotta keep your cool, Brie. Heaven forbid you should ever be genuine.
“So, I see that you and Brie are together now!” said Tae. “Brie, you’d better treat her we-”
“EXCUSE ME?!?!” I shrieked embarrassingly, literally catching everyone’s attention. “We are NOT going out!” Especially after what just happened!
“Oh! I’m sorry, I thought tha-” Tae began apologetically.
“It’s fine, Tae,” I said, sitting next to Min Su & Key.
“Aigoo, I have a test in English. I’m pretty sure I’m going to fail...” said Tae to change the subject, looking distraught.
“Oh, Tae,” said Min Su lovingly, “you’ll do fine. Don’t worry about it.”
“Thanks...” replied Tae, starry-eyed. Aiiiieee, they’re so cute! I caught Brie’s eye and flicked my head meaningfully toward Min Su. He acknowledged me with a wink, which was kind of cute. Gaaahhh! Really, Jess?! Get a grip, girl!
“Jess?” asked Jong, who was one of many of the school dance coaches.
“Hmm?”
“Min Su wanted me to ask you about joining our dance group. You see, we’re one girl short, and Min Su said you’re really good, plus you wanted a major in dance. Will you join us?”
I considered his offer, unsure but very tempted. “I don’t know...I’m still trying to decide if dance is going to be my major.”
“Well, we need an extra girl,” he said. “We could really use the help.”
I shrugged. “I suppose I could help you out. But, if I decide its not what I want to do, I can quit, right?” No need to set it in stone so early.
“Yeah, sure!” said Jong, relieved that I had agreed for the time being.
“A-Alright, I guess I could come.” Good thing I brought extra clothes today...
“Great!” he said enthusiastically. “Oh! And just so you guys know, I heard that gym is cancelled today. They’re waxing the floor, apparently.”
“Again?,” said Key questioningly. “That’s the second time this month!”
“I know! Weird...” Jong said thoughtfully.
“Well, I’m going to get some more kimchi, does anybody else want anything?” Tae said, grabbing his ID. The “nopes” went around the table, all except for me, Miss Blubber Butt
“Ooo, could you get me some more kimchi too?”
“Sure! I’ll be right back!” he said. When he got up, he grabbed my left shoulder, his hand squeezing my lacerations from yesterday’s assault. The pain was too great - I let out a small cry, and quickly pulled my shoulder away from his grasp.
“Jess! Oh my God! I’m so sorry! Are you ok?” Tae said, holding my hand. Key, with his motherly personality, asked, “What happened to your shoulder, Jess?” He got up out of his seat, concerned.
Oh no, not now, Not Now! “I-It’s nothing, Key. I just fell down the stairs yesterday and my shoulder got a bruise on it! It’s fine, really!”
