Chapter 6:
Tae's POV:
Walking to the next class, I told Jess and Min Su that I forgot to get something out of my locker, and that I would meet them at lunch. Ugh, I hate lying, especially to Min Su. I sighed. Min Su... Her hair is so pretty today, and she’s always so beautiful...Geez, focus, Tae! I finally found Brie in his usual hangout. "Yah! [Hey!] Brie! Brie-hyung!" Brie flicked his head upward from his phone in greeting.
"Tae! What's up?"
"Oh, not much, just gettin’ ready for class. Hey! I noticed you tryin’ to pick up Jess..." I winked at him jokingly, but his smile quickly turned into a glare.
"Yeah, what's it to you, Tae?" he growled.
I blinked at Brie in surprise. "Hey, chill, man! I was just joking with you. What? Do you like her now?”
He gave me a look of complete disgust. "Are you kidding? No way. I learned the hard way that girls are only toys that you play with, pawns to use. They only abuse the love you freely give them." I nodded solemnly, knowing the reasons behind his thinking, so I didn't bother him anymore about it.
Brie's POV:
Ha! Me, like Jess. Please! I can't possibly fall in love with her. I got hurt. Deep. And I can't ever be hurt like that again.
Flashback
I love her so much... That's what I thought as I waited for her in front of the park bench where we first met. I saw her driving up, or... was it her driving? I questioned. As I looked closer, I noticed... Jangmin? What is he driving her here for?
He stopped the car on the curb, then I saw him put his hand on her cheek. OH, I was furious; no, I was LIVID. I could feel my collar getting warm with anger. Then I saw something I never, ever wanted to. Jangmin crept closer and closer to her face, then he kissed her. He flat out KISSED her! The horrible realization crashed down on me like a ton of freaking bricks. My best friend from first grade just kissed MY girlfriend! I could see the adoring smile she gave him, the one I had thought was only for me, then she got out of the car and started walking toward me. She could tell I was angry.
"Brie, baby, what's wrong? Miss me?" she said simperingly, mocking me with every word. She started to put her hand on my cheek; I instantly grabbed her wrist and looked her straight in the eye. "Why are you lying to me?" I could see the fear in her eyes, but she kept up the act. "W-what are you talking about?"
"Oh, quit the bull crap! I saw you and Jangmin kiss in his car! Don’t you DARE lie to me!" I yelled, nearly in tears. "B-Brie.. I... It isn't all that you’re making it out to be." "Oh, yeah? How long have you been lying to me, Da-Hye? Telling me empty words, while I willingly and, heck, GLADLY gave you my heart and my love? Well, I'm not going to let you lie to me anymore. We're through." And with that, I walked away. My neck tensed trying to hold back my anger. Never again, I thought, pain and fury pulsing through me with every beat of my shredded heart.
End of Flashback
I can't bear to ever get cut so deep again. That backstabber had managed to change me forever. I suppose she won after all. I sighed. At least soccer practice would take my mind off these dire thoughts for a while.
