Chapter 19:
Jess’s POV:
“Can you believe it? You finally get to go home!” Min Su said, ecstatically.
“I know! I can’t believe it either! I’m so happy to finally be leaving this dungeon!” Min Su laughed at my comment, but it was true! I think I actually hate hospitals now, the nurses, the beeping machines, the poking and the prodding, the doctors waking you up for what seems like every five minutes to check on you. Seriously, I think they want me to stay longer because of the sleep deprovation they’re causing me! I sighed as I grabbed my clothes that Min Su grabbed me from my house, “I’m gonna go change real quick.” “Ok!” Then all of a sudden, Min Su asks, “So! What do you want to eat?” I thought about it and honestly, I didn’t really care. Min Su is a great cook, so anything she makes is amazing! But for some strange reason, I felt like eating some food from home. Pizza, for example, do they even make pizza in Korea? or Macaroni and Cheese, or Spaghetti? I sure haven’t seen any lately, and I’ve been having a hankering for it ever since yesterday. Maybe I’m getting homesick. Wait a sec. Is mom even home? “Min Su! Is my mom home?” I asked,
“No, she said something about a business meeting in Great Britain or something like that.”
“Oh. Ok.” Gee mom, thanks!
Once I finally got dressed, I walked out of the bathroom, and sat on edge of the hospital bed. “Hey! I noticed you and Tae were having a good time earlier.”
“Oh? When was that?” She said, trying once again to hide her emotions.
“Come on Min Su! When you two were talking while we were waiting for my turn in the x-ray room, You were laughing and he was joking around with you. You seem to really like him!”
“What?! No! Why would you say that? Why would you even think that? I-”
“Min Su! I know because I can sense it! Haven’t you ever heard of women’s intuition?”
“Well yeah, but-”
“Then why don’t you admit it?”
“Because...I can’t! He couldn’t possibly like me! I’m not rich enough, skinny enough, or even pretty enough to even be liked like that by him. He’s just a friend!”
“Min Su, you remember I said the exact same thing in the bathroom at school when you guys found out about when I was attacked! But you told me that all that stuff doesn’t matter! All that matters is what’s in your heart.”
“I know but..What if he doesn’t like me like that?”
“You never know unless you ask, right?” I said, as she pondered my question intently.
“No I guess not. But that’s easier said than done Jess! How am I gonna tell him that?”
“Just...tell him. There’s no use beating around the bush about it, just. Look, when you come over to my house tonight, you go out on the porch and I’ll tell Tae to take a drink out to you. Then you can tell him.” She sighed, as she pondered over the idea. Then finally she said,
“Alright, I’ll do it!”
“Great! Now, come on! We don’t want to keep the boys waiting.” I said, as I picked up the last of my things. We walked out, and I hoped I would never come back here again. No goodbyes, or nothin’! Just walk straight to the boys, drag them out and go home and EAT!
