Fight me, Become a Demon

Chapter 7

Yuuken's face had cooled down by now as he took off his belt. He also got into bed, keeping a respectable distance from Akaza so he wouldn't push any boundaries. His eyes felt heavy as he nodded off, finally succumbing to sleep after such a long day.

The morning sun leaked through the small gap in the curtains as the warm light hit the bed in the room. Yuuken's eyes groggily opened, his vision blurred. He groaned softly as the light got into his eyes. He looked around the room still laying on the bed. Yuuken couldn't believe that this was something real that actually happened. A voice in the back of his head said that the entire experience was a dream but it was all real. The fact that he was still in this room and the sound of soft snores and sleep talking cemented that.

Yuuken looked down at his feet, Grimm was asleep, curled up and pressed against his ankle. The cat monster's leg and ears twitched occasionally as he mumbled unintelligibly. A large grin was on his face, he was likely dreaming of tuna.

Turning his head to the left, the magicless man saw the source of the soft snores. Akaza was peacefully sleeping on her side next to him, her hair was spread out on the pillow with the blanket pulled up to her shoulders. The demon's hand gently laid on top of Yuuken's, causing him to smile slightly as soon as he saw it.

Even though he knew both Akaza and Grimm only for a day he cared for them. He had a feeling that they were going to be around him for a while, they would probably be his one constant in this strange new world. Akaza was also from another world just as he was so they had something in common. Grimm was also yet another unexpected but welcome addition to this strange situation. The both of them relied on Yuuken, it gave him a purpose while he was here. A reason in this strange place where nothing was familiar. He felt needed, almost how the members of his kendo club made him feel needed in his home universe.

    "Hihihi... don't you guys have to clean up the academy now?" A voice said, Yuuken quickly sat up and looked to his side to see the skinny ghost floating beer the edge of the bed. Akaza's eyes snapped open, her gaze landing on the ghost as well. She sighed and moving the blanket off of her, still in her vest and underwear. Yuuken looked away as Akaza stood up and stumbled into the attached bathroom to get ready for the day.

    "Uu～mm... munya... five more minutes..." Grimm muttered as he turned onto his back in his sleep.

"If you keep rolling around lazily like that, one day you won't be able to wake up for eternity, you know?" The medium sized ghost was now also floating at Yuuken's bedside. He sighed as she stood up from bed, stretching his tired muscles. He rethreaded his belt through the loops of his pants and started to tie his tie.

"Just like us! Ihihihi!" The chubby ghost giggled as he popped out of the wall, causing Yuuken to flinch. The sudden movement messed up the carefully practiced knot he was tying.

"Fugya! There are ghosts again!" Grimm shrieked as he jumped in the air, his fur standing on end and his eyes flattened against his skull. Grimm had not realized that Yuuken was awake, he was too surprised to fully comprehend his surroundings. "Oi, you! Wake up!"

"So, you both are going to live here from now on?" The thin ghost said excitedly as Akaza had left the bathroom. She sat on the edge of the bed and started to put her jewelry back on. "You guys are so prank-worthy, kekeke!"

"Shit. One day I'm gonna drive all of you out!" The cat angrily spat as he jumped off the bed. Akaza had already put her pants back on and was in the process of tying her tasseled rope belt. She ignored Grimm pawing the tassels back and forth. She growled, pausing as she sensed a familiar annoying presence.

"Good morning, the three of you! Did you sleep well?" Crowley exclaimed as he burst through the bedroom door. Thankfully Yuuken and Akaza were fully dressed at this point, Yuuken was just finishing tying his shoes.

"When we sprawled on the bed, the bottom of the bed fell out and we were so surprised, you know!" Grimm said, both he and Akaza were glaring at the headmaster. Yuuken awkwardly scratched the back of his neck. Grimm wasn't lying, the bed had fallen through the frame roughly around one in the morning. "How long did you neglect it to dilapidate? We got woken up by a ghost too this morning, it's the worst!"

"Slept like a log!" Yuuken said with a smile as he remembered the scene in the morning.

"Even though you were hurled here from another world, you're tough, very good!" Crowley grinned, happy that Yuuken was easy to take care of. Akaza rolled her eyes, of course she was tough she's a demon. "Well then, now that that's out of the way, I want to talk about your job for today."

Crowley gestured to the three to follow him out the door. Before leaving the room Akaza grabbed her oversized ceremonial robe and clipped it on as she walked out the room. The otherworldly guests and cat followed the headmaster downstairs to the dorm lounge.

"Today's work is to clean the inside of the academy." Crowley said with a wide smile. "...Even if I said so, the academy is very vast. It will be impossible to finish cleaning the whole place without magic. That's why, for today, please clean the Main Street starting from the main gate to the library. Do you understand, Yuu-kun? Please look after Grim-kun properly so he doesn't cause an uproar like he did yesterday. And keep an eye on Akaza-chan.

"Understood." Yuuken confirmed, nodding his head.

"I'm relying on you." Crowley said before walking to the front door. He paused and dramatically turned. "I will give you permission to eat lunch at the school cafeteria. Well then, work hard!"

"Tch... I can't stand doing things like cleaning up!" Grimm complained, the headmaster had left already and blatantly ignored the cat monster on his way out. "I also want to attend the magic classes and do lots of cool magic~ like boom! Bo-bo-bo-boom!!"

"Let's study in the library after we finish cleaning." Yuuken said in hopes of reaching a compromise so the three could leave sooner.

"Let's go." Akaza said, not having the patience to wait any longer. She picked up Grimm, holding him under her arm like an expensive purse.

"Grumble, grumble..." Grimm unintelligibly said, scowling as the three exited the dorm to start the day.
