Fight me, Become a Demon

Chapter 11, part 2

"There's no "banging out" a hundred windows!" Yuuken said tiredly.

"You dare leave us to do all the work? You're nothing but a lazy coward." Akaza growled. The blue haired student watched her, a flicker of understanding in his eye at her demeanor. Akaza still had a very prominent vein on her forehead and her fists were clenched. Acting with basic intelligence for once, Ace looked away from the angry demon.

"You have to wash a hundred windows as punishment?" The blue haired student said in shocked, baffled at what could be the reason for such a long and draining punishment. "What the hell did you do?!"

"I was just screwing with that furball a little..." Ace started before looking to the side to avoid the glare of Akaza and Yuuken. Yuuken's glare was uncomfortable, he was at least six foot and noticeably well built. Even though he didn't have magic he was still physically intimidating. Akaza on the other hand was just downright terrifying for obvious reasons. A bead of sweat slid down his face as he sheepishly admitted the next part. "Okay, and the statue of the Queen of Hearts got a teeny bit charred. Sue me."

"You damaged a statue of the Great Seven?! No wonder he flew off the handle at you!" The other student exclaimed, eyes wide in shock. He could not believe what he was hearing. A student attending such a prestigious school as Nightraven not only damaged one of the most important art fixtures on campus but it was the one for the dorm he was from! "After you managed to get into THIS school, how could you get in trouble on the very first day?!"

"Oh, shut up." Ace grumbled in equal parts annoyance and embarrassment. He realized he didn't know this student's name. It was obvious to Ace that they were both from the same dorm; the same color scheme of their magic pens, vests, and armbands giving it away. Ace remembered he had seen the blue haired student in all of his classes too. He could have heard his name during attendance but he wasn't paying attention. "Who are you, anyway?"

"My name is Deuce. Deuce Spade." The blue haired student, Deuce, introduced himself. He had an incredulous expression on his face, more than likely because Ace could not remember his name. "Don't you remember your own classmate? Uh..."

"You don't remember my name either, do you?" Ace lifted a brow. His expression was flat as Deuce spluttered out a refusal as his eyes were fixed to the side of the room in an effort to avoid Ace. He had a soft blush on his cheeks.

"Man humans are dumb." Grimm said with a deadpan expression on his face. He was currently sitting on his bum between Yuuken and Akaza worry free as Ace was still trapped. The only response he got from Yuuken was an exasperated side eye.

"You have no room to talk." Akaza stated plainly.

"That's not the point! You shouldn't try to shirk an order from the headmage!" Deuce exclaimed, his embarrassment faded. He had a point, Akaza had to admit. While she would never follow Crowley she could easily compare this situation to failing to follow Muzan's orders. Though the outcome was far more painful and bloody than this.

"Yeah, yeah, message received... Fine, let's bang out the windows already." Ace sighed in defeat, giving up on the idea of escaping his punishment. Yuuken gave Akaza a look and both stepped up to remove the cauldron from Ace.

"Wait, let me." Deuce said stepping up, head turned to Akaza as he said this. He and Yuuken lifted the cauldron off of Ace while Akaza stood to the side. It didn't affect her if she helped or not, she was only going to help before because Yuuken wanted it. She saw Grimm sneak out of the room and said nothing, too bored to care at this point.

Ace got up and dusted himself off before squinting confusedly at the empty space between Yuuken and Akaza. "Huh...?"

"What...?" Yuuken trailed off as he and Deuce looked at the space where Ace was looking. The area that Grimm had been sitting in a minute prior was empty.
