Ariya wandered out of the indoor sparring arena and around the streets of Aquadias, her eyes darted back and forth looking for a blacksmith or sword shop. The city had overpasses and multiple levels worth of streets scattered with everything but what she was looking for.
"Why aren't there any swords?" Ariya sighed as she kept walking.
She passed by many catalyst stores but she currently didn't understand how to use magic, nor know if she could even use it or not.
She made it to the second level of shops before she noticed a sword located in a catalyst shop. She ran into the store to look at it.
The sword was a thiner almost rapier-like broad sword that was black with light pink ascents, she pulled the sword off the wall and immediately knew she wanted it.
"Nice sword *Cough*, It matches you very well." A young man with light blue hair and a very skinny build said while placing a hand on her shoulder to support himself.
"Yeah, I just found it and was planning on getting it." She replied letting him use her shoulder and a crutch.
"You should buy it," he said with a shaky voice.
"I want to, but I don't have enough coins," Ariya replied while unseathing the sword and revealing a completely smooth silver blade.
"I'll pay for it... *Cough*... If you keep him away from me." The young man said while glancing over to another man dressed in a very nice white robe with a water droplet on the chest and back.
"Isn't that the priest that was just at the church?" Ariya asked while resheathing the sword.
"Yes, but he is a terrible man." The gentleman said while trying to stand up straight.
Ariya helped him stand and they headed to the counter, the young man paid for the sword and they almost got out of the store until the priest quickly walked towards them and spoke.
"Are you ready to go home, Lord Rui?" The priest said while reaching for Rui.
Ariya slapped his hand and began to reach for her sword.
"Remove your hand or I'll cut it off..." Ariya wrapped her hand around her new sword and looked up and the man.
"Oh, you again... I don't know what you're thinking, but I'm simply here to take Lord Rui back to the temple to get rest for lunch." The man said as he grabbed Rui's wrist aggressively.
Ariya drew her new sword and pointed to tip at the priest.
"You know that drawing a sword is frowned upon in public right?" The priest said looking at the sword that Ariya drew and then at her older sword.
"Father Rana please let me just talk to her for a little bit." Rui pleaded as he tried to remove the priest's hand.
"No, as the heir to Aquadias you are required to pray more often to the God who once saved us," Rana replied in a stern voice as he raised his hand to slap Rui.
"Every time I pray I feel my sickness getting worse," Rui replied as he flitted simply from the hand being raised.
"I don't care, the heir must follow the rules." The priest's hand went in time to slap Rui.
Ariya moved quickly and grabbed Rui's before Rana could hit him, she moved him a few feet away and stood in front of him.
"I don't think you should be hitting the heir..." Ariya said as she pulled her sealing scroll out of the hip holster she had fastened to her belt.
The priest sighed and put his hand against his forehead as an overwhelming pressure exited his body.
"Water illusion, suffocation," Rana said as his magic silently and invisibly surrounded Ariya and began to mess with her senses causing her to feel like she was drowning.
"What the" She let go of Rui and gasped for air as she covered her mouth she felt water fill her mouth, she tried to spit it out but no water was in her mouth making her action useless.
Ariya fell to her knee as she felt herself drown and lose consciousness slowly.
"Father Rana, what's going on? " Rui asked as he moved to Ariya quickly to see if she was okay.
"Nothing, she'll be fine..." Rana kicked Ariya aside and grabbed the young man's wrist.
"Father please help her she's choking." Rui pleaded as he pushed the priest away.
"No..." He replied while dragging Rui away from Ariya.
Ariya felt herself fade in and out of consciousness as Rana dragged Rui away, she tried to do something but nothing was working.
She turned her head as she watched Rui and Rana move beyond her vision, she felt water in her mouth and around her head disappear. She gasped loudly as her consciousness came back and she felt air rush into her body.
She tried to get up but she couldn't move any part of her body from both the near loss of consciousness and the kick to her side from Rana.
To be continued...
