Wondering why I said yes to the marriage? Well, I didn't find any issue in it. Abhiyansh seemed like a well-educated, well-mannered man, and his family was something I always dreamed my in-laws to be like.

A scoff left my lips when I remembered my script.

Flashback to yesterday night-

"Maa, bhai just said that I have to get married. I have no choice." I was drowned in my thoughts when I heard a knock. Quickly wiping off my tears, I walked to open the door.

It was Papa standing there. It was so rare for him to show up in my room because since I came back, he hadn't even cared to ask me, "Was I fine?"

"Ayein, Papa," I said and let him in. (Come)

He walked in and sat on the bed while I stood in front of him, my head hung low. Why? Because I never had that sweet father-daughter relationship with my father like other daughters did.

"Rooh, beta," papa said.

I don't know why, but I felt so heartwarmed when Papa addressed me as "beta." Why? Because I had heard him calling me "beta" for the first time since I came back.

"Ji, Papa."

"Beta, about your marriage...hear me out first. Don't react. I know it shouldn't have come out the way it did. I agree you were shocked; of course, anyone would be. But," he paused, then continued, "it's not a lie, though."

"Then what should I do, Papa? What do you expect me to say, and how should I react? Nach to nahi sakti na mein ab?" I said, because I was also mad at everyone. How could they just come up with this marriage thing and drop it like a bomb on me?

"But there's no going back, Rooh."

"So what, Papa? Will you get me married against my wish? Against my will? To someone I don't know?"

"He's not someone you don't know. You used to play 'ghar ghar' with him an-" I cut him off mid-sentence.

"Papa, I was a kid. He was a kid. We were friends. God knows what kind of man he is now. Besides, as we grow, our personalities change. Just because we played 'ghar ghar' in childhood, does that mean I should actually set up a home with him now?"

"It was decided more than a decade ago," he said sternly.

"So what's my fault? Are you here to convince me or just order me around?" I asked because I couldn't understand what he was up to.

"Rooh, to be honest, you don't have a choice. You have to follow the pact either way," he said, leaving me shocked, my eyes widening and jaw hanging. Yes, this was honestly my condition.

I cannot let a pact, a stupid promise, ruin my whole life.

"And if I don't?" I asked hesitantly. I wanted to know every option.
