3 months later-

Three months-exactly three months-had passed. Yet, here they were, with no progress in their relationship. It felt frozen, stuck in the same place it had been on their wedding night.

The day she had hoped would be the happiest of her life had turned out to be the worst.

"Bhabhi, ek parantha aur dena," Mahik said, holding out his plate. (Please give me one more parantha)

She smiled warmly at him and placed another parantha on it, her gestures graceful.

"Aapke dost kab ayenge ghar trip se, Mahik?" she asked, her voice soft but curious. (When will your friend come back home from the trip)

Her eyes searched his face, but she noticed the faint smile on his lips vanish instantly. By now, everyone in the house knew the truth-this wasn't the kind of marriage she had imagined. He had kept his distance, leaving her to face the unspoken reality of their relationship alone.

"Actually, Bhabhi... he's having a meeting today, so he might get late by a day or two," Mahik replied hesitantly.

Hearing this, she lowered her gaze, the corners of her lips lifting into a faint, almost practiced smile.

"It's okay, Mahik. You eat," she said gently, hiding her disappointment.

He left the kitchen, his head lowered, his usual cheerful demeanor missing.

As she stood there, her thoughts spiraling, she suddenly felt the comforting presence of the people she cherished most in this unfamiliar house-her best friends, her pillars of strength. They approached her, their energy a stark contrast to the heaviness that weighed on her heart.

"Has bhi liya karo bhabhi-saa, ya hukum-saa ke ane pe hi hasogi?" Akshita said while resting her chin on Rooh's shoulder. (Smile once in a while, bhabhi , or you'll smile only on your husband's arrival.)

"Hat tu yaha se ,meri bhabhi hai, meri sunengi. Has do na ek baar, mohtarma," the boy came over and said, upon which Rooh looked at him, leaving the spatula with which she was stirring the kheer. (Move away from here, she's my bhabhi, she will listen to me. Just smile once, madam.)

Before she could answer, he again said something that widened her eyes. "Aise mat dekho, pyar ho jayega," and he winked at her. (Don't look like that, you'll fall in love)
