Sterling
I wake up to my alarm going off and grab it to stop it before realizing it was my last alarm and my interview was happening in less than an hour.I got up quickly shutting it off and grabbed my makeup bag putting on winged eyeliner, mascara, some powder, blush, and lipgloss. I grabbed my flat iron letting it heat up while throwing on some black wide trousers with a white long sleeve bodysuit, and some black platformed heels.
After i finished throwing on my clothes thanking god i planned it the night before i straighten my medium length dark brown hair. After it was done i grabbed my red purse, phone, and keys.
"Love you, i'll be home soon Maeve" I shouted to my roommate slash best friend as i headed out.
"Good luck love!" she shouted back as she approached the kitchen and i gave her a smile before shutting our apartment door.
I rushed to my car and got there 5 minutes before miraculously. I had my camera equipment with me and my portfolio of some of my favorite pictures i had taken. I arrived at the gate of a pretty big house. I was really curious what musician i was actually interviewing for, but my email said i wouldn't be told unless i got the job.
I typed in the code they had given me, the gates opened and i drove the rest of the way up. I grabbed my things and headed to the door ringing the door bell. A lady in her 40s with dyed blonde hair wearing a purple dress that went just below her knees opened the door greeting me with a smile.
"Hi i'm here for the photographer interview" i spoke suddenly feeling my mouth dry up due to nerves.
"Sterling Belmore?" she asked and i nodded quickly. She opened the door wider and gestured me to come in.
"I'll be the one interviewing you, just follow me this way" she said as she walked through the hallway that felt like it went on forever. I took my surroundings in and looked around until we arrived at an office i assume, and she stepped into it and i followed as she shut the door behind us. I sat on the couch and she sat in the chair.
"I'm Emma, the boys manager. I won't name who unless you can impress me enough to give you the job" she laughed a bit which caused me too and i nodded. "It's okay, really just relax." she spoke kindly, "do you have a portfolio?" she asked me.
"Yes ma'am" i reached for my portfolio and handed her it. She got it and flipped through looking throughly impress which immediately made me feel more relaxed.
"So tell me about you" she spoke still focused on my portfolio.
"My name is Sterling, as you know" i laughed nervously before continuing "i'm 21, i've been working with the basement venue since i was 18 and i've been doing photography since i was 15. I go to a lot of concerts which i love to photograph in a more articles linse than your average just snapping a picture on your phone, i have old cameras, new cameras, modified cameras, all for the different aesthetics. I like to base the camera i use off of the vibe of the artist, but i always bring a normal newer camera with me incase the venue doesn't want to use the older camera's pictures." i explained. I stopped noticing she was really listening which made me feel better because i was scrambling for words.
"Your work is highly impressive Ms. Belmore" she smiled handing me my folder back and i nodded with a smile.
"Well this job requires traveling, you will be paid very well and food and living costs will completely be covered. This job will start you out at a probation period for their tour. First two shows are here in LA then the rest will be all over. If you want and we want you to you could stick by us for years, not only taking photos and filming the concert but getting behind the scenes photos and videos for every event. How's that all sounding so far?" she asked.
"Really amazing" i admitted.
We finished up the interview and i feel like i blacked out when she offered me the job. She still hadn't told me who i was working for, but i didn't really care i was just excited for my first big gig. I'm meeting the band back here tomorrow, today i need to focus on packing and getting everything situated with my old job since we start the shows next week. I got back home and greeted my roommate.
"So how'd it go?" she asked with a big smile, so big her dimples were popping out. A smiled just as big at her as i took my shoes off and nodded.
"I got it!! We leave next week" i squealed.
"God Sterling this is absolutely amazing, i'm so happy for you" she exclaimed basically bouncing up and down. "wait who are you working for?" she asked furrowing her eyebrows.
"I don't know, i meet them tomorrow she wouldn't tell me who before. They have two shows next week here though" i shrugged and looked back up at her and she had her phone in her face.
"They're a band right?" she asked not looking at me still.
"Yeah" i said as my voice trailed off. "You're looking it up aren't you" i rolled my eyes playfully with a laugh.
"Duh" she mumbled. "Oh wait, oh god Sterling" she froze with her phone in her hand.
"What what?" i panicked from her expression.
"There's no way" she spoke in shock.
"Dude quit the dramatics, who is it?" i asked growing my impatient.
"It's Impulse" she smiled big and i laughed.
"What's the big deal about that, don't get me wrong their music is great, but i'm not gonna fall on my knees and fangirl when i see them, now if we were talking Harry Styles, that's another story" i joked with a smile. She was staring me down like i was insane.
"So you don't think Nate, West, or Joel are hot at all? You're just gonna be touring the world with them and what? Just be friends?" she asked baffled and i scoffed with a laugh.
"Mae, what the hell else would i do? They probably won't even acknowledge me unless they have to. It's like a vacation i get paid for" I shrugged. I really couldn't care less.
"Now enough freaking out i'm gonna go start packing" i smiled getting up.
