Nate

I followed my aunt unwillingly because whatever she needed was guaranteed less import than what i was talking about with Sterling.

We walked in her room and she closed the door behind us and sat at her desk chair.

"What's up?" i asked as she settled.

"As you know Skylar will be coming tonight, i need you to be as least flirtatious as possible. You have to sell you and Sterling and we don't need more cheating rumors." she spoke so professionally all the time and it honestly was so tiring.

"You know i didn't cheat and the press blew that one picture out of proportion" i replied and she nodded.

"I know honey, but it still happened. We need to keep to the timeline for the new album, you have been working on it right?"

"Yeah" i lied. I couldn't bring myself to write break up songs, i'm not in that headspace.

"I could perform the song for Sterling at tomorrow's show, it's completely" i suggested "you know to keep suspicion off of the whole Skylar thing" i added.

"Perfect, that sounds great. Stay away from Sterling incase she is sick, i don't need you catching anything. We need our lead singer well" she reminded me.

"Okay" i replied. I wasn't going to, but she can think i will all she wants.

I got up and left her room. I waited a few minutes until i knew she wasn't coming back out anytime soon and i headed straight back for Sterling.

I didn't bother knocking and getting ignored i just pushed open the door and closed it behind me.

Sterling was laying on her bed when i walked in.

"I miss when you knocked" she commented.

"I miss when you answered" i shot back.

She didn't say anything back to that. Of course not because something's up.

"What's wrong" i asked my question again.

"You really need to go because Emma fires me for getting you sick"

"Here's the thing though, i don't buy that you're sick. I think you're avoiding me and i want to know why" i spoke getting worked up and took a deep breath before adding "please" in a soft cooler tone. I sat on her bed facing her.

"Nothings wrong Nate, i'm just sick" she lied. I know she's lying because she won't even look at me. She's looking anywhere else.

I scooted closer and lifted her chin with my hand to make her look at me "Okay so say that again, but looking at me. Because i'm not convinced Belmore."

Her face was stone, no smile, no frown, just blank.

She just simply shook her head a little.

"Did i do something wrong the other night during us having sex? after? do you regret it? is that it?" i asked confused rubbing the bottom of jawline softly with my thumb.

"No" she replied keeping eye contact with me when she said it. So I knew that wasn't it.

"Did you see comments online that made you second guess us? Is the fame too much?" i asked prying. I didn't care that i was prying, i needed to know it was driving me insane.

"Not exactly" she mumbled out, but i heard.

"Okay so i'm getting warmer, reward me by just saying what's making you avoid me? I'll leave you alone after if that's what you really want" i begged. I moved my hand from her face to her hand to hold it as i pleaded.

"I can't i'm sorry, i just can't do this. It needs to stay as a fake relationship, and maybe still a real friendship. I can't give you anything more than that" she spoke trying to sound stern, but her voice wavered and cracked.

I slowly released her hand and just looked at her a little dumbfounded and more confused on what could've caused this.

"Sterling" i spoke softly.

"Hm?" she replied looking at her hands, she was playing with her ring, she wouldn't look at me.

"Can i show you something?" i asked. It was a last attempt to get her not to break up with me in all honesty.

"Mhm" she mummer.

"Okay i'll be right back" i replied getting up leaving making sure i didn't see Emma as i grabbed my journal and headed back.

I got back in and laid the two songs i had wrote for her in front of her to give her a sense of how i was feeling. I watched as she read them.

I didn't have to explain they were about her or authentic, because she knew. I know she knew.
