A few days passed and it was time for a Gathering. Leopardstar and Mistyfoot were gathering the chosen cats to leave the camp and Mistyfoot's eyes rested for the longest on Ferret. She knew this was the night she would know if her friend decided to leave or not. Ferret had been allowed to come to the Gathering, and she was going to be looking for Firestar. She needed to talk to him, but she didn't know how to. She looked at Mistyfoot, and she sighed softly. Mistyfoot looked away from Ferret and she looked at her leader, waiting for any sign to leave. Leopardstar flickered her tail and cantered out of the camp, leading her clanmates through the territory and towards the Twoleg Bridge.

Ferret followed after them, looking around. She felt anxious to see Firestar. She trotted along with them. She remembered her last Gathering and her heart ached. She missed Brambleshade so much. Leopardstar halted at the top of the slope and gazed down. There was only WindClan yet but she could smell a weak scent of ShadowClan coming. She flickered her tail and trotted down the slope next to Mistyfoot. Ferret stopped when Leopardstar did, and moved when they did. She trotted down the slope, glancing around for a few moments again. Where was ThunderClan? She sighed softly. She sat down, curling her tail around her feet as she quietly waited for the rest of the cats to show up.

Leopardstar joined a little group of WindClan and she glanced at the other side of the clearing when she saw ShadowClan cats coming. Almost at the same moment, ThunderClan walked into the clearing from the opposite side. Mistyfoot looked at Leopardstar when she noticed Firestar and she swallowed at the look her leader was burning the ThunderClan leader's pelt with.

Ferret sat Firestar, and she sucked in a breath, standing up. She didn't want to approach him first, but then she noticed a familiar apprentice. Sunpaw...

Sunpaw was discussing something with her brother next to her. This was her first gathering and she was in awe. She started wildly looking around, feeling a bit anxious now. There were a lot of cats for her. Her eyes darted over Ferret and then she locked them on her. "Ravencall!" she called happily, immediately leaving her Clan to join her.

Ferret let out a sigh of relief as she rushed towards Sunpaw. She nuzzled up against her, finally feeling everything bubble over. "Sunpaw..." she whispered. "I lost my mate. Our deputy." She choked out.

Sunpaw nuzzled her back, only pulling away from her when she heard the news. With her ears pinned, she silently meowed, "I'm sorry..." She licked Ferret's forehead a few times. "What happened to him?"

"Tigerstar killed him." Ferret whispered, a snarl rumbling out of her throat. "In cold blood. ShadowClan launched an attack on us. And he killed him while Blackfoot pinned me down."Her ears twitched slightly. "Is Firestar available? I need to speak with him. I got Ravenpaw's message."

She was listening to her and she bristled with a quick glance at the ShadowClan leader. She was wondering what she should answer but then Ferret changed the subject and she shook her head. She looked around, realizing her leader had been watching them the whole time. "Over there," she said with a wave of her tail.

Ferret nodded. "Will you come with me?" She asked before she began to trot over towards Firestar anyway. She dipped her head in respect, and she knew the RiverClan cats were watching her. Of course, they were. Sunpaw nodded even though Ferret probably didn't even notice, and began trotting after her.

"I got Ravenpaw's message." She told Firestar, meeting his eyes. Her eyes held a bit of everything. Hurt, happiness, defiance. Firestar had meant so much to her and he just tossed her aside. Now, he was calling her back. She didn't know what to think.

Firestar's ears twitched when he watched Ferret coming closer and he sat down, neatly wrapping his tail around his paws. "Greetings," he said, dipping his head. "Ravenpaw told me you'd let us know today."
