Chapter 14

I made this chapter wayy too short but oh well 

We found the frozen river and looked around. We smelled the dark wolves coming ever the more closer. Knowing that this would be the part we struggled we saved our energy for this and had paced ourselves. I was still very exhausted. I stepped on the ice and instantly slipped. It was cold on my paw pads. The fur in my paws wasn't enough to keep me warm. Aspen stepped on the ice as if it was his whole life. He skated across with Winston.

We slid around when the Dark wolves peaked through the woods.

"Come on," Aspen said. I skated trying to get the hang of it. I just needed to get away from the wolves. They came and got on the ice. Winston ran by the river making sure to stay away from the small army of Dark Wolves. He growled and bit at some of them. If they came too close. As a blood wolfe he didn't look like a pup compared to them.

A wolf tried to grab me as I slipped and slid around the ice. Once I found solid ground I went to help Winston. Rose and Julia were struggling on the ice. As I ripped the dark wolf from Winston and threw him to the ice. The ice broke. The weight from him and everyone else made it crack and some dark wolves fell into the ice losing control. Rose looked panicked and was sliding even more now. Aspen rushed to the ice and started to grab at Rose's pelt. He wasn't strong enough so he looked at me and tried to pull her away. I ran into the ice but the ice cracked under my paws. I grabbed Rose and pulled her away from the hole before I fell through the ice.

The cold of the water grabbed at my pelt, and I tried to pull from the water. I felt Hannah enclose me and help me through the panic. I controlled my breathing before feeling a tug from someone they were weaker than i. I found a surface. But a darkwolf grabbed my muzzle and smashed something. I felt pain and fear all around and went back under. When i came back up i was unable to grasp the side

I felt winstons jaw on my scruff pulling me from the hole. He was too weak to do much but lift me slightly. Another grabbed me and with the two of them pulling I was lifted onto the ice. Another helped them drag me into the snow which was more stable.

"Is she okay?" Winston asked sorrowfully "she was down there a long time.

"She'll be fine" Aspen said now in human form. "Make a fire over there we will drag her.

"She should change."

"Yes, Anala this will be hard but can you?" I nodded slightly, my jaw on fire. The fire burned inside me as my fur changed to skin. Aspen held me in his hands and they were warm. I cuddled into his body heat. Winston helped him slightly and now I was beside the fire.

Rose and Julia took me from Aspen and wrapped me in a bear coat. They must have cleaned it from the carcass.

"Aspen you should sleep, you've been up most of the night." I couldn't tell if he nodded but they stayed quiet. They cuddled me to keep me warm. My skin was like ice. Winston cuddled his head into my chin.

I woke up sweating. I took a deep breath and tried to pull the blanket off. Winston was gone and Rose and Julia were by the fire.

"What happened?" I said , getting up. Although i got dizzy and had to lay down

"Aspens going to get food" Rose said

"We beat them," Julia said, looking at me concerned. She grabbed a cloth from her bag and put it in the water near the flames. She put it on my head.

"Rose, Analas burning" she put a cold cloth on my head this time. Is Hook from the water dripping down my face. She put my head up and looked through her bag.

"We have no medicine.

"Now we have to get to the Yetis," she shook her head, looking at me.

"Yes we should get to Aspen and get there quickly." Rose said

"We should have brought a horse. " Julia said

"We wouldn't have made it"

"You're probably right but I'm finding Aspen to tell him" Julia got up and ran to the woods. Winston was forced back and Rose put cold towels on my head to try to cool my body heat down.

"Drink this" Rose said pulling my head to her lap, she gently poured some of the liquid into my mouth. It was hot so she went slowly. "We need to get her more fluids" she said

Winston gave her another and I drank some more. I kept my head on Rose's lap and fell asleep.

"I got you" Aspen said grabbing my back Winston held my feet.

"Ow.." I mumbled as my muscles started to hurt.

"I know Anala," Aspen said, putting me on the ground on a blanket. He grabbed the blanket instead and that's how we were to go. Aspen couldn't hold me himself since we were all weakened by the cold and hunger. I tried to sleep toward the gentle rocking of the blanket.
