“Princess Anala, you must not go in there” a guard said gruffly. I needed to see the prisoners closer up but how would I do that? “Anala go back to your room please” I nodded as if I would be willing enough to go to my room.
“Yes sir” I walked down the hall up the stairs.
“Come here” was my younger brother Winston. “I have a way” we walked up the stairs and went to the right. My room was on the third floor.
“Winston play look out” I said quickly grabbing the grate, it was unmoved. Winstone left to play, look out. I grabbed the hair pin out of my hair and placed it into the grates lock. I quickly picked the lock, escaping my room has some benefits. I said opening the grate.
“Winston” i called going in the great i crawled down the tunnel and i heard Winston come up behind me. “We have to work fast, you know the way to the royal court?”
“Of course I know every great Anala” he said scooting to the front “follow me” I kept right behind him, left, right, right, left, right, left, straight, down, straight, and right.
“Here we are '' he finally said. I saw the prisoners and I was right over their heads. One of them was a girl with white hair and light blue eyes, another girl had bright red hair and white eyes. If she was way darker she could be considered a blood wolf. Another of the prisoners had dark brown hair, Darkwolf, and then another had light blond hair he was neither
“Is that.. A goblin?” Winston asked, looking cautiously at the light blonde boy.
“Winston, Goblins are extinct” I whispered as I looked at the halfling, the dragon boy he was talking to the king.
“Can you hear them?” winston asked
“No '' I said, looking at the girl with light blonde hair again. That's when I heard a scuffling behind me, I turned around to see my other little brother ben.
“Uhh i was looking for you not sneaky no..”
“Ahuh just watch with us and make no noise or i swear to god i'll give you both a bath with my smelly soap i father finds out” i hissed. The two boys looked horrified as if I threatened to hang them over a cliff and drop them.
“Yes,” I said, smirking . I looked down again. A boy was standing in front of my father.
“Your majesty..” he bowed
“Go one we have little time young fool” my father said just like he did with me most of the time.
“My name is Aspen, this is Julia, Rose, and Craang” he said my brain instantly memorized the names with the face “we requested your audience because we need a bloodwolf, that is beyond stronger than most someone we must be able to choose”
“Come back tomorrow i can see what i can do for you, but for now you must stay in the guest house on the far side of the village”
“Thank you your majesty” the kids left the room making me think, beyond stronger than most… that is what my trainer said last week those exact words.
“Let's get out quickly” I said , letting Winston lead the way back to the grate.
“Careful” he whispered looking around the hallway before he waved for us to come out, it was like we were in a spy movie.
I raced to my room. My room was at the top of a tower as well as my other three siblings.
I had a sister named Amara, she was barely a month old by now, I was the rightful heir to the throne.
I opened the door to my room. It held my poster of my favorite fire ball team, it held my red carpet, my red bed sheets, my copy of the statue in the middle of the village, my red fountain, deer skin, and even my desk. My room was shaped like a circle. There were three circle windows in a line; the one in the middle was the biggest. I grabbed onto my ladder for my loft which was a wooden floor that separated my room and the pointed roof for a ceiling. There were pillows and blankets up there but most of the time it was cleared for me and the kids to play pirates or some dumb shit.
Knock, knock. “Princess Anala, the king wishes to see you” the guard said, leaving down the stairs where he had come. Perfect. I thought rolling my eyes now I get to hear more complaints about me from my dad. What a doozy. I climbed down in front of the loft and down the sharp steps. The guard was waiting for me down there and I walked right past him.
“Throne room, Renold?” I asked.
“Yes princess,” he said. I walked down more stairs and down to the one room which was not our home and public. All of what I hated about the room. I walked to the front where my father sat.
“Anala as the heir you get partly to decide in this decision this is also your future” he looked a bit concerned and less concerned for his kingdom.
“Yes father and what is my decision then” he looked at me, put his cane under my chin and pulled it up to look at him.
“Someone is to go on a life or death journey, you do not get a say in who, but in if..”
“If?”
“Damn you, you really should have been at the meeting, why weren't you.” he said angrily at me.
“Don't worry.. I was” i pointed to the grate in the ceiling,
“Should we send our strongest person stronger than any other and about their ages to go see them so that they can choose who they need” he said looking at me curiously “we all know you have been special since the moment you beat your trainer at eight years old”
I nodded quickly and looked out to where it seemed the entire kingdom was waiting for my decision although most of them couldn't have possibly fit in here.
“We should go for it, i'd rather take a chance than the kingdom grow dead.'' I said looking and sounding strong but my insides were weak, I was hungry and not ready to be wrong.
“You heard the princess.” he took my shoulder, “guards take her to the guests” he said as the others cheered i was taken through the back way the way no one would see me. He took me through the wall where I have not been before. It was cold here and my usual sweating turned to cold.
“Here she is” he said pulling me through the door
“Thanks Argus” I said , smirking , looking at the team “my name's Anala” . I said back to my normal accent. They must have thought my accent was strange.
“My names Aspen, this is Julia, Rose, Craang, and Flame.”
“Yeah i know who Flame is” i said “hey mage” he smiled at me and Aspen looked at me. I looked at the others.
“I think it's her,” the girl named Julia said to Aspen. He nodded and put his hand out to me.
“If you would be willing we would like you to join our group” Rose and Craang nodded looking at each other then back at me. I smiled.
“I must get to know you, I can not join your group in caution, if you were to be killers and be luring me away” I said too much. I stopped and looked at them, they nodded.
“Of course this will be a big change we will give you one week to decide”
“They cant even be giving a choice” Argus said on our way back to the castle “if they need to save the world they will be doing anything in their power to get you with them, take caution princess. He said turning me towards him. I looked up into his eyes. This was the love my father told me. I took his metal helmet from his head and kissed him. He smiled at me. His lips were soft but rough all in the same. I pulled away.
“I shouldn't have done that.. Im sorry”
“I liked it” he rubbed the back of his head
“We do not talk about this with my father, you understand?” I said , looking at him warningly. Something had felt off, something I didn't want to do ever again.
“I promise” he bowed, walking behind me the rest of the way, we were silent. I felt poisoned and wronged. I had to find my prince. He was not him however I could see the wrongness of what we had just done now. It wasn't right. I could not get a clear picture of what my dream prince looked like however, he had long hair, blonde hair maybe? I grabbed my dress, stopping it from dragging to the floor, not like I truly minded it was just something to hold onto.
We made it back to the castle in one piece and I rushed to my room. Nothing was right about anything. I had felt the longing of boys before. I don't know why I did it. Confusion, pain and anger at myself filled me. Like my mom's tomato soup whenever I was feeling down. Mom was gone though this feeling was sour tasting more like when lemon lime was added to the recipe, a lot of it. I should be thinking about making my decision.
Knock knock. “Sister are you in there” perfect timing Winston. I said, rolling my eyes. I climbed down from the loft and went to the door.
