Wolves Book 2: The Rage Of The Blood Wolves

Chapter 19

I smelled blood, lots of blood as someone stammered over.

"Raven!" Julia yipped looking to make sure it wasnt another darkwolf before bounding from the cave. Rose and I followed behind. the sight was gruesome however. Aspen, in his human form, was laying on the bloodied snow, a large scratch marked his face and a dark red 'X' was on top of the Darkwolf mark he had on his arm.

"Aspen!" Julia screamed quickly changing back to help pull him inside safely.

"we cant stay long" Raven growled "they will find us now that theirs bloody trail.

"Thank you Raven" I wrapped him in a long hug bundling up to his shoulder he nodded, all soldier like and stoic, but i could tell he was happy for the hug.

"Yes I thank you."

"will you be joining us? or going back?" I asked almost pleading for him to say the first one but he looked at me sorrowfully.

"I have to join you" He looked at the snow "Im a traitor to my nation if im caught.. ill end up like Aspen could have been" He finally returned the hug as if i was his only support and softly cried into my shoulder from the pain those words took him.

"I know youll miss Hugo very much but you will see him again" I whispered sotly in his ear gently patting his back in the usual comforting manner. "And i know you will find friends with us" Raven nodded wiping his tears as he stepped back in the stoic soldier manner once more.

"thank you Anala" I looked back to see Rose and Julia holding up Aspen now "Ill carry him on my back in wolf form im better in the snow and no offense but i feel like we shouldnt drop him when hes in this state" He chuckled.

Julia looked to Rose who gave the okay and we all took the time to change into our wolf forms. I grabbed Aspens shirt, which was black prison uniform, and hoisted him safely onto Ravens back.

"Hold on tight" Rose ordered even though Aspen was about to be unconscious. i saw his hand grab Ravens fur however which surprised me.

"Follow me i can get us out and into Windwolf territory" Julia yipped as she ran using her speed to get ahead of the group. Rose stayed beside Raven as if watching him to make sure he didnt leave or slip up.

I stumbled along trying to keep my bearings but the skin on my paws was meant to keep heat out not cold and so it was very difficult to do.

Finally a large frozen stream that bordered the Windwolves and Darkwolves was in sight. Julia briskly jumped over the border stopping to sniff the grass now as she looked as Raven leaped over the board quickly and then Rose.

I looked at the boarder with fear but i braced myself for the jump and went with my body weight stumbling into the cold frosted grass. much better than snow however.

"Youre like a stumbly puppy Anala" Julia teased pulling me up slightly by the scruff.

"my paws are freezing what'd you expect?" I sit their to lick at my paws to keep them warm and Julia looked at me curiously before looking into the woods that got warmer and warmer as you go.

"well let us get you to my cabin we can warm you up their" Julia had a since of pride as she said her cabin.

"No" Rose barked "if we go their the darkwolves will follow we have to go straight to the elves" I looked at Raven was laying down in his wolf form waiting for us to have a good plan.
